Forums Moderator?

I have seen forums moderators on Scratch, such as Lanie, JSO, and cheddargirl. I have been wondering, how do you become a forums moderator? It seems like it would be cool, and helpful to Scratch! Will some one tell me how you get to be one, please?

Plus, the Scratch team has to pick you specifically.

How do you get specifically picked? I feel so dumb.

The Scratch Team only hires new moderators if they need them, so it's unlikely that anyone will be elected soon.  They will e-mail you if they think you would be a good moderator.  General criteria:
1. Follow all the Scratch rules (i.e. no swearing, inappropriate content, etc.)
2. Be willing to enforce these rules if needed.
3. Don't use your ability wrongly (e.g. to sticky your own topics)
4. None of the current moderators asked to become one.  Also, the Scratch Team prefers older and/or more skilled members.

Your not dumb! We all need to learn things sometimes!

Re: Forums Moderator?

Only other thing that would probably help you learn a little more is to ask a mod themself. Current mods that aren't Scratch team members are cheddargirl, Lanie, MyRedNeptune, and JSO. They'd probably be happy to tell you.

The people you listed are the same people I listed except for MyRedNeptune. XD

Re: Forums Moderator?

Like scratching4fun said, if you follow those general guidelines you would have a good chance at being a forum moderator. It also helps if your older (for a stronger sense of maturity), if your active on the forums, or if you have a strong knowledge of scratch and how it works.

They will not. They will send a message on Scratch.

http://i52.tinypic.com/5es7t0.png I know what you're thinking! "Neptune! Get rid of those filthy advertisements and give us back the Zarathustra siggy, you horrible person!" Well, don't worry about it, the Zara siggy will be back soon, new and improved! ^^ Meanwhile, just do what the sig tells you to. >.>

I believe you... because you're a forum moderator.  smile  Anyway, so they just comment on your stuff, asking you? That's nice. Much simpler.

I am guessing that MyRedNeptune means a message like "you have (number) messages" one of them will say We have chosen you to be a forums moderator, or something like that.

I was just wondering, do you have the option to decline?

But you couldn't reply saying yes or no, could you?

I think so... I think someone said once. And you can quit being a forum moderator; I think it was Paddle2See who told me.
