Well I think that these projects are featured and top-loved because they actually WORK HARD ON MAKING THEM! It is very hard to do animation especially with lip-syncing. It also takes a lot of work to get the story lines and art right. Personally I don't mind cat projects featured because in case you didn't notice but the Scratch mascot is a CAT yes a cat. So if you have a problem with that then don't complain about it. I also like the cat projects because my favorite animal is a Fox I know it is completely different than a cat but to me they are very similar. So if you don't like the projects then just don't even look at the featured projects. We don't really care. (At least I don't)
Wow, 99% agree with you. Thank you so much for pointing that out.
yes its true, they work hard, but im only commenting on this cuz it pssed me off. games are harder to make in most cases, scratch bash 3 took me 8 months.

You would not dare to say that people making games to not work hard. They do. And having cats all over the front page might deter some people from joining.
It is also very hard to make a good game. Many people work for hours making amazing games and they get no spot on the front page because there are cats all over it. It doesn't matter that the Scratch mascot is a cat, Scratch is about programming, not art. Even though the people making cat animations work hard, there are people that work just as hard and harder. I would appreciate a break in the repetition of cats on the front page.
I slightly agree with you but I do make great games too such as Music Catcher 1 & 2 but they have default tags to choose from BEFORE you upload a project. Here is the lsit.
-Animation
-Art
-Game
-Music
-Simulation
-Story
So it doesn't matter what different things are on Scratch really since Scratch is made for ANY type of project. But for people who want more "variety" then make your own game and just leave the rest of us alone. Not trying to be mean or anything.

Ooh, Mozaz, that picture is so cute! ♥ And cats are popular, so if someone were to ban cats or something, Scratch would probbably lose like half its members! Or just a few! Either way, this could be very offending to cat-loving members and stuff. Personally I perfer dogs, but cats are okay too. And I am HORRIBLE at drawing cats. But there are somne people who can only draw cats.
