its just because this is the end of the mayan calender, those if the mayans were so great at predicting things you'd think that they would have survived alot longer eh?

You can't say that Nostradamus predicted the rise of Hitler because he is so vague, his predictions were somewhat along the lines of "and he will rise with an army and conquer" along with other identifying characteristics of the time period
this is too vague to attribute to Nostradamus.
They said the world would end 1000 AD, 2000AD (Y2K apocalypse), and a bunch of other dates that I don't remember

WELL? Hitler did conquer many countries, he almost conquered the world! except russia beat him.

Hmm you guys got me thinking, so I googled it up, and I found this. Really facinating article, (though long). At the end it mentions that another potential Judgement Day is 2040, when all 9 planets will line up since hundreds of thousands of years.

it won't happen. on 1st January 2000, they predicted ALL the computers would crash, and the planes would fall out the sky and the hospitals would fall over. and did it happen? No. So, why should this happen?
Also, it would burn up in the atmosphere.

thats a cool article, it really got me thinking, i still am not convinced about this end of the world thing, but its gonna happen eventually with global warming and our dependance on finite resources, i'd give the world a century before our economy collapses, which isnt a very nice thought.

lol not soon, the earth wont end for a while, i'd say the earliest is a century if were really unlucky and nobody does anything and there is a world war, latest 6.5 billion years when the sun explodes isnt that cheery. if you dont wanna be scared you shouldnt read about the apovalypse

Its not going to happen. You guys probably havent seen the show, but Penn and Teller disproved everything.
Also the Mayans predicted it from only the east coast sky. What about the west? Nope.

I heard somewhere that 2012 or 2013 could be the middle of the 7 years. So 2010 would seem to be the beginning, and late 2016 the return. (Ironically, "the day and the hour no man knoweth" was the Hebrew term for a new moon...Hmmm...)

It's interesting to see that different countries tell different stuff about the Second World War. We were always told at school that the USSR defeated the Nazi army, without mentioning anything about the US - they did participate, but I really got the impression that they played an extrememly minor role...
Anyways, even if we die in 2012 all of a sudden, it wouldn't be much of a change because well, everybody will die. Seriously, if everybody will die, there will be more point in dying than living.... I think of it as a mass migration or something of that sort. xD
Even if somebody will remain alive, they will probably just commit suicide because they want to *join the party*. :3
