What?!
I can guarantee 1.4 doesn't have a virus, you downloaded it from the scratch website, right? If you got it from anywhere besides scratch.mit.edu that could be your problem.
But if it IS from this website, something's wrong. What happened, did your antivirus go off? I remember a year ago some antivirus program would detect a virus in it, but it wasn't really infected and was fixed by updating. Now if your computer started acting up from downloading it, that's a problem that you seriously need to bring to the scratch team's attention.

Neato! I haven't been playing with scratch lately, but this new version looks like it adds some really key features. Ask will be handy for... just about everything, really. Join and the ability to extract letters are perfect for ciphers (secret codes), among other things. And I like the new handling of the comment... thing too.

I like it but glitch!!! really big glitch. I imported a project and then deleted it. the deleted project still showed up eventhough the sprites were deleted! and the blocks are now showing up where they shouldnt be. hours of work ruined!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We are happy to announce the release of Scratch 1.4 ! With this new version, you can:
* ask users to input text from the keyboard (with new "ask" and "answer" blocks)
* take photos directly from built-in or USB webcams
* run Scratch on smaller screens, such as on netbook computers
* control robotics with LEGO WeDo
Thanks to everyone who provided suggestions for Scratch 1.4. We really appreciate all of your help.
To learn more about Scratch 1.4, check the Release Notes.
Download Scratch 1.4 and try it out!

I found some of the updates in 1.4 very helpful, whereas there where some updates that could have been made that where not. I know there are probably time contraints, but they would have been nice. On that note, is there a place where users can make suggestions for 1.5?
Back to 1.4. The robotics control is a cool feature that could allow the creation of a simple HMI... The new sound recorder is a large improvement over the old one, and the text feild sensor also is a major improvement. Good work.

Yay! I got it when it came out and it's really good! The webcam has great quality, the new blocks help me program, the new question and answer blocks are easy to use and the layout is clearer and neater. Well done Scratch!

Odd, but when I upload projects with the "Ask" block to the website, they don't quite work correctly. Why is this?

What about them does not seem to be working? We have noticed a bug where the prompt text does not always get cleared after the input is typed in. I've reported the bug to the Team. There is a workaround you can do...use the Say block with an empty text string to clear the prompt text.
Are you seeing another problem?

We've released a new version of the Java player (v34) that fixes the problem that where the prompt text does not always get cleared. It fixes a number other bugs as well. You may need to quit and restart your browser to get the new version of the applet.
