The Scratch Team has selected Jens and kevin_karplus as the first Scratch Forum Moderators.
They were selected not not only because they are very talented Scratch programmers but because they are often helping and giving advice to others. They will be helping us in monitoring the forum posts, move post threads to their appropriate forum, make posts sticky and delete inappropriate content.
Please join us in congratulate and thank them for all the time and effort they have put into Scratch.
As we move forward we will try to include other members of the community in other activities as we see necessary. In selecting these members, age, gender and location are not important. What is important is the level of maturity, respect and mentoring role that people have played in the community.
Thanks kevin_karplus!
Thanks Jens!
Thanks everyone in the Scratch Community... and Scratch On!

Thanks, Canthiar. At least now I have some excuse for all the time I waste on the Scratch Forums. I can put "Scratch Moderator" on my resume! (Not that it will help when I go up for promotion next year, but I'll do it anyway.)

Congratulations on your new duty!

do they get paid?
Of course not!

No pay, though they did offer to send me a free T-shirt. (Let's see, the value of the T-shirt and the time I spend on the scratch forums comes to about 1 cent per hour----not exactly minimum wage).

Congrats Kevin and Jens!

Really? Weird...

Why is it weird to remember something that happened just a few months ago?

MyRedNeptune has been an active and helpful member of the community. The Scratch Team has asked MyRedNeptune to be a Forum Moderator which she accepted. Thanks MyRedNeptune and welcome to the Moderators group!

Welcome to the job of being a Forum Moderator, MyRedNeptune! With the different locations of you, Jens, and me, we have a big chunk of the time zones reasonably covered. (Maybe we'll need a moderator from Australia, or eastern Asia, next!)

Yes, welcome to the moderators user group, MyRedNeptune! Wonderful to have your help, and I guess our time zones aren't that different (as opposed to Kevin's solitary Pacific coverage), so we're actually visible to each other at times

I am in South Korea, but I speak english.
Is there a forum moderator at that time?

Congrats also from me MyRedNeptune!

MITscratcher, I believe that the Scratch Team will be looking for Forum Moderators on an ongoing basis, since moderator burnout is a common problem on chatboards. If you want to be considered, do what MyRedNeptune did: participate in the forums and provide lots of help to newer members of the Scratch community.
