What exactly does a "print" block do? Does it send a screen image to the printer? Does it put a number on the screen that can be erased by a "clear" block? Where does the number (or string) go?
Please give us more details of your idea.
If you want to print a number on the screen using "stamp" commands, look at the "print_scientific" program:

I have used snap shots of scratch projects as mock-ups for software and game design documentation, but have just used Screen capturing to do this. Since I just wanted a still of the project, rather than a printout of the entire page this approach worked for me.

I am new to Scratch (less than a month) but plan to develop math games and activities in it extensively and hopefully to put an army of people together who can develop a full constructivist math curriculum for grade and middle school. Print Stage would be not just very useful but it would be almost indispensable for this goal. In addition with all the cool Fractal programs and a lot of other applications it would be great to have a Print Stage. This should be done just like all the other applications that do a print friendly page. I know it is not easy and also you need different flavors for Mac and Windows but hey you guys are the Best of the Best, find a way;=> I am into developing math games, puzzles and activities with virtual manipulatives that kids can use in schools and homes. The best way to see that they have accomplished the correct manipulation or tessellation etc. is to be able to print it and also to paste it all over the school or home. Screen shots not good enough!. At a minimum the downloaded version of Scratch in run mode should be able to do a print stage and then you need to provide a way for people to post the printed stages much like the comments to a Scratch application.

You can right-click on the stage, and choose "save picture of stage." (For Macs, ctrl + click on the stage).
That feature saves it as a gif (so if you are using photos they lose resolution).
