Re: Who do you think is the best desighner/director on scratch?

When I mean bouncing animation, I mean restitution. Download the game and check the scripts to see what I mean.

Re: Who do you think is the best desighner/director on scratch?

I think that there are many good programmers, designers, etc., etc. But to point out a few, I think that archmage and the people on the Scratch Team(of course), are great programmers. For drawing, MyRedNeptune, Boopaloo, and many more. Paddle2See also has some very creative projects.

And if I didn't mention your name(if you cared), don't take it personally, there's just so many talented people on Scratch, it's hard to mention them all.

This sort of discussion is only going to lead to hurt feelings and discouraged people.  Please see kevin_karplus's comments in a similar thread below

Re: Who do you think is the best desighner/director on scratch?

I hope this thread doesn't start into a competition to be the best designer. I think such a competition would discourage people from posting their projects. If we're going to emphasize the competition among designers, we should structure the competition in a way that encourages designers of all levels to post their projects perhaps by setting aside areas for first time projects, or professional designers or total amateurs.
The question I think would help us more without having the negative effects that competition often brings is, Who are the designers who we can learn from: In graphic design, coding, gaming, creativitiy etc.

Re: Who do you think is the best desighner/director on scratch?

The best scratch project is the one that teaches its creator the most.

going from "never programmed before" to "enough knowledge to put up a simple animation" is a far bigger leap than going from "learned all kinds of programming years ago" to "made an amazing scratch project."

So don't be discouraged - if you learned something abou programming from your scratching you are, IMO, a better scratcher than those of us who have been programming in one form or another for years, and are just showing off our "leet programming skills"  wink

Re: Who do you think is the best desighner/director on scratch?

Probably archmage and canithar. Also 'sliders' that bigB metioned is the best game on scratch next to archkight's adventure. I'm an everyday scratcher, I own a company, can't make characters jump, own a company, able to make side scrolling games (nearly) and that's it. Although, at the moment im learning law & order but it'd be nice to be a programmer. If I don't get the grades for that I'll be an author  tongue  If I don't get grades for that I'll be a programmer  wink

I do not support these types of topics, they will end up hurting someone's feelings; If it hasn't already.

MyRedNeptune, I think that this topic was made sticky  because it was read so often.  It is probably better to keep adding to this same topic, rather than restarting this discussion over and over.

Ok. I understand now. But I wish people wouldn't have made this topic...

Re: Who do you think is the best desighner/director on scratch?

I agree that the topic has the potential to do more harm than good in the community.
I also understand the desire to know whose code is really worth looking at.  With over 71,000 projects on the site, it is not possible to look at more than a small fraction.  Figuring out which ones are most worth the time is worth discussing.  Unfortunately, that has not been the direction of this conversation, though nearly all the programmers who have been mentioned have done projects worth reading.

Re: Who do you think is the best desighner/director on scratch?

The trouble is, if we delete this thread, which has some excellent discussion about why selecting a "best" is not really possible or desirable, someone will just start a new thread on a similar topic, and we'd have to have the discussion all over again.

Those who Delete the Past are doomed to repeat it!  Very true on the Forums.

Re: Who do you think is the best desighner/director on scratch?

Deleting probably would just spawn another similar thread.  The shame of this thread is that the best programmers don't care about being best, but some "up and coming" scratchers might be discouraged by not being mentioned after a big effort.

It's difficult to grasp the sheer size of the Scratch "project collection";  There are a lot of very impressive projects that go un-noticed just because of the number of things in the collection.
