Scratch and the Web

What if Scratch could be used to recieve and read HTML and PHP files? There would be variable in a sensing section called URL that tells you the URL ypu are recieving, also, you could make some cool stuff in scratch here are some examples:

-A Web Browser with your own features
-A more realistic ScratchOS project
-A web scavenger hunt
-An HTML editor that allows you to preveiw your page
-A web site creation tool

Any ideas or comments?

Re: Scratch and the Web

And THAT will lead to virus attacks, by cross-riding from Scratch to Squeak, and then to Windows. BTW, we have Flash and PHP and HTML for this.

Re: Scratch and the Web

nice idea, but scratch would have to be fitted with a fire wall, or something like that, to block attacks from viruses.

Not a bad idea, keikjj. And I'm not just saying this so I'm not being discouraging! It's true.

Re: Scratch and the Web

Thanks for not syaing "Oh, this isn't going to work" again, but yeah, I must agree to the above problem, there would have to be speciasl software to block the viruses and trojans, or, to stay offline and only read local HTML files.

keikjj, you know, I don't try to be discouraging... I just say my opinion. And anyway, let's forget about this stuff. Okay?

Re: Scratch and the Web

Hm.. I actually think that could work. But of course you need a licence to do so. That costs money, and the totals could add up.  hmm  So, after that and the programming of a firewall, that may be too much work and too much money for the Scratch programmers. Sorry to rain on your parade! LOVE the idea though! <3

Re: Scratch and the Web

Yeah, thanks or the input, but this idea just went down the drain because of viruses. Can a mod please close this?
