years old with a peak at 13 (Figure 3), of those 30% are female.
Only 30%? That's weird I think... Are males more interested in programming?
And this peak at 13 is huge, why?

I suspect the age deals with the ability to break things down into steps.
The male/female thing has to do with how we are wired differently (but not better or worse) guys (hunters) are problems solvers while girls (gathers) are better organizers - problem solvers are drawn to programming, organizers can often be better programmers.
(I suspect this will lead to a whole discussion on sexism - there are exceptions to the rule - and I won't enter into that debate if it erupts)
