math & physics curriculum

hello, i am diving into scratch and i hope to be ready before september begins, in order to start 1 or 2 courses for kids in my school;

now, my question: i already know scratch is totally helpful in math and physics teaching but i'd like to know if there is any book or web resource where projects regarding these curricula are grouped by age or grades of kids or, better, math (or physics) topics, e.g.:
- algebra projects
- geometry projects
- calculus projects
etc.

more exactely, i mean that you may find hundreds of projects tagged math or physics but they span a very different level of complexity and so i have to check each of them one by one ...

thank you in advance

ps: if my question is not clear, just ask me more details

Re: math & physics curriculum

You could, potentially, seek out projects tagged KS1 or KS2 to get some idea of complexity (in uk projects) but I don't think there is any universal index.

Re: math & physics curriculum

Hi Everybody,
I wonder if anybody has suggestions for me based on their experience in using scratch.  I want to use this with K-5 grade students to support doing engineering projects around design challenges from stories.  As an example, designing and building a better house for the pigs or a machine to help the wolf or doing a project for Templeton the Rat  in Charlotte Web.   Can this tool be used as a design simulator?

Re: math & physics curriculum

I share your wish for a better way to collect projects for specific uses in education.  I started a list of projects I use in pre-algebra, over on the Scratch-ed site.  Maybe by posting things there, we can build a resource with less to wade through that is off topic.  See: http://scratched.media.mit.edu/resources/pre-algebra-project-ideas

The Math Projects gallery http://scratch.mit.edu/galleries/view/6423
may have some projects you can use.

Re: math & physics curriculum

That's great, Bob84.  It's a little lonely right now in the ScratchEd site, so I hope readers of this forum do some migrating there.  An interesting question for us to work through is how that site and this Educator forum link/overlap/or cancel out.
