Send a sprite with Scratch Connections

I have been playing with the 'enable remote sensors' option which lets you send broadcasts and the values of global variables across to another copy of scratch. It would be great if you could transmit sprites between applications (in a similar fashion to the export and import) without having to restart the application.

I agree, sharing sprites using Scratch's remote sensor protocol would allow for all kinds of new collaborative experiences. In fact, we even experimented with this feature a while ago (it was just an additional menu entry offering to "share this sprite" to all connected Scratch sessions). Technically it's not terribly complicated, the tricky part is the user interface.

Scratch Connections is part of Scratch..... have a look at the scratch connections wiki and our new scratch connector to connect two copies of scratch together.

I never saw that one and have not seen how to connect scratch sessions within scratch (have I just wasted my time writing a connector ?) ....

It would be great to have it work over port 42001 with the other connections. Some sort of broadcast sprite command to send over a sprite and all costumes, variables, and sound files. I think etoys does something like this but lets the original application still control the keypresses....
