Movies and video games have ratings, even television shows do. Why can't we rate our projects based on age-appropriateness? I know Scratch projects should be for all but what if it just isn't appropriate for some people?
Ratings could go like this?
All
6+
10+
13+
16+
18+
21+

i think it would work better like this
Everyone
Teen
Mature
the problem is that mroe projects may come out that are not E.

Scratch is designed for kids, so I don't think there should be a Mature/R-rated category. If there's no age restriction, just a rating, anyone could watch them anyway. If you have to be 18 to watch an 18+ project, kids could easily fake their ages (I'm not paranoid, because people I know do it on some sites.) I think the ratings should be G, PG, and PG-13, and you have to be 13 to view a PG-13 rated project.
By the way, I'm 12.

Note that the point of these ratings are to prevent users from seeing content that is deemed inappropriate for them. If they lie about their age Scratch cannot be held responsible if a user sees inappropriate material.

Exactly. Also, who would rate the? Some users might not rate their projects correctly, either by accident or on purpose.
The user should first rate it and then if users think differently, they can vote, and if enough people vote differently it could automatically override the creator's decision.

I don't think any of this is actually neccessary, because the only projects that will receive mature ratings are the violent ones or a few others.

I think the age ratings should be 3+, 11+ and 15+, with 15+ being restricted. Oh yeah and there be someone chosen to look at the project first and decide whether or not it's appropriate.

This is ridiculous. Scratch is meant for all ages (as fruit said earlier, but still). Surely your projects aren't inappropiate, are they? The ratings will just make people feel proud (such as "hey dudes! I can view 18+ projects!"), and possibly make people want to make inappropiate projects (thinking that it's safe because of the ratings). The point is that there should be no need for these ratings! If you have any projects that would need a rating, then it's probably inappropiate. And if you want to rate because of blood and gore, surely the title of the project should give you a clue!? Like Ultra-Killer 3. That's obvious, isn't it?
So there.

No it isn't I'm serious here. Scratch is not mean't to be for all ages, it just mean't to be appropriate for the audience. And no, what about if a project says "The ultra educational program" but it actually contains bloody violence and strong language in it? And look. It is very unlikely that a person would start making inappropriate projects, because when their projects get branded "15+" then they won't have such an audience and not so much viewers. So it actually serves them right.

woah woah woah, wait a second
18+?
21+?
The right age for most violence is 16 (I'm 16 xD)
18 and above would be x rated. I don't think anyones going to make a game like that using Scratch, that's why I disagree with this idea

Well, I was thinking the same thing. I mean, the users shouldn't rate them. A mod should rate them.
