Re: Pluto??

Pluto was a planet. It is not a planet anymore. Being planet is not a physical property of a body, it is a definition. Bu why do you care about this?

Re: Pluto??

Pluto can't be a planet, because it's too small and it hasn't cleaned it's orbit out of derbis. It's a planetoide then.

Re: Pluto??

The third law that you have listed, is what gave it its dwarf planet classification. But that is incorrect. People think that it crosses Neptune's orbit, but that is not true. It goes under it. Just because Pluto is closer to the sun than Neptune at one point in its orbit, does not mean that it is not the domanant object in its orbit. Pluto is a planet according to those laws. I dare anyone to challenge my words.

Pluto's orbit takes it right into the kuipa belt

"every KBO (Kuipa Belt Object) discovered since then has emphasized the same point: Pluto looks less and less special with every new KBO we find. Most recently, several large KBOs, including one as large as Pluto itself, have shown clearly that Pluto is not unique."

PLUTO IS A PLANET

It's not neptune that disqualifies it though, it's the other odd junk out there that nobody knew about before. Such as eris, and the Kuiper belt objects.

Re: Pluto??

I'd actually like to think of Pluto as a planet, but a lot of scientific facts go against that.

On another matter, some crazy girl in my biology class said she was gonna jump off the building when she found out pluto wasn't a planet anymore. It sounds horrible, but it was really funny if you were there.

Re: Pluto??

You can take me off the Planet Supporters list... I never said that Pluto is a planet. But I still wish it were... (So you can put me on the Anti-Planet list.)

Re: Pluto??

One of its moons is half of its total size, while all of the planet's moons are 1/10 or less of the entire planet. And it's not entirely spherical either.

Re: Pluto??

Put me on the anti-planet supporters list. I think Pluto is too small to be a actual planet. Just because a planet has moons doesn't mean it's not a dwarf planet. Some asteroids have moons too.

But nor is earth. Earth is slighty diffrent in the equator.

Anyways.. i think it is a planet...

Re: Pluto??

Greenflash, I think you mixed up some of the Pluto-is-a-planet-people and the Pluto-is-not-a-planet-people. I'm pretty sure Norberts is anti Pluto-planet.  big_smile  That's a mouthful.

Re: Pluto??

yeah. I have a request for anyone interrested. You could call it a contest:

1. Design a banner 150x300 (long like my current image) for this topic with a pic of pluto and text that says "Planet? Join the Debate!" Do whatever you want with it, as long as it looks awesome
