Libraies for Scratch?

I noticed that python has many libraries that let you uses extra fuctions. On example is pygame. Is there anyway you developers could allow users to create their own libraries for scratch projects in the scratch language? For example, I could download a physics library and it would allow the user to create objects that would be affected by physics without having to write tons of formulas. Or a scroller library that would make creating scrolling games much easier by adding the right scripts and variables in the library. Could anything like this be done?

Re: Libraies for Scratch?

this ties into that whole cat thing. if they did make libraries and went with illusionist and bwog's idea then there wouldnt be arguments about the anthros anymore

Re: Libraies for Scratch?

What does this have to do with cats and anthros?

Re: Libraies for Scratch?

if your idea is implemented, then we can have a different library for games, drawings and... the other thing that i forgot what its called
i agree with this idea!

Re: Libraies for Scratch?

A graphics library would be cool and it would let you create sprites by writing equations. Or a maps library that could connect to the internet and get maps from google maps or another website! Maybe even a new library that could let you make RSS feed readers and weather stations with Scratch.

Re: Libraies for Scratch?

No idea, but maybe if they created a librarie creation feature, someone could create a library that creates sprites if you enter equations or even 3d graphics libraries. I looked at my watch and it said 1:23:45 XD

Re: Libraies for Scratch?

I don't know... I wouldn't mind if it got included, but then again, I wouldn't mind if it were left alone.

That sounds kinda cool—I use Python, too.  smile

Re: Libraies for Scratch?

I'm starting to learn the basics of it. I don't get the graphical stuff yet. I'm interested inm PyGame, a raie that is made for making games, so got this idea.

Re: Libraies for Scratch?

Well scratch is open source so you can edit it to include whatever you want

However, the online player will only ever  work with the official scratch distribution. Even if you could put in new liberaries the online player won't run it.

Hi, I am Archmage coder extraordinaire. I do Scratch, pascal, java, php, html, AS2 and AS3. Leave me a message if you want coding advice. Also check out my personal website, lots of good stuff about web development, Flash, and Scratch (v1 and v2) !

Re: Libraies for Scratch?

Thanks for the input everybody  smile  I'll try creating my own version of Scratch with a library creator.
