getting started, knowing how to use important tools, concepts, a general over view

First go to gimp.org.
Then click on download.
Then choose your operating system, in my case Mac OS X, and then click on download.
Then open it up from the downloads and install it.(note you may need to get X11 if you don't have it or you may need to update it)
Once that is done open it up and this is what it should look like.
Now it is time to open up a new file/project. Click file then new and then options should show up.
To save just click on file then save and the you can type in your name with the extension such as .gif or .jpg or .png.

Now just click on the paintbrush and you can start painting.
Recap: I taught you how to download, create a new file, and save the file.
NOTE: I will make another tutorial soon on the features of Gimp such as the rest of the tools and each of the 3 windows and how to do special effects like putting an image on a 3d sphere and other animation and special effects.
Thanks for watching this tutorial and expect more to come and some to come as a video cast and some more like this!
Scratch On!
