i think that a better way to do the 50 post rule would be to simply change it to the 50 comments rule. that way people would have to go around vieweing others projects and commenting on them 50 times until they have the right to a signature. its much better because they could give lots of words of encouragement to other scratchers instead of spamming on the forums which is bound to happen to most people when they find a signature.
thanks

yeah and I barely have 25 comments on scratch
the main reason I go on is for the forums
like yesterday I went on and I found I had like 3 messages saying to stop swearing
yikes :S
that's why I think that there should be private messaging on the forums,
i'll go post something about this

well comments and forum posts are quite similar, i just think that the major problem its addressing is that everyone is spamming their first 50 posts so that they get to have a signature (truthfully even I did some unneccessary posts.) i think that this is just one of many other alternatives there could be. because i dont really think that what they are doing now is the right way to handle it.
P.S. 2121 comments

That would be harder to implement. The post count is a simple feature of PunBB (Scratch's forum system). "Linking" forum post counts to comments could be a difficult task.

really? but they already keep track of the amount of comments you post?

Yes, they do track comments, but like jamie said, it would be hard to link them together.
EDIT: 1600th post!

Look everyone, get back to the topic at hand, and not boast about how many comments you all have.
Anyway, first of all, as I'm sure that you will all know: The 50 posts rule is there because of people who might use their signatures to spam. Now, 50 comments is rather easy. Just comment on your own projects!
Now, as The-Whiz posted way earlier about having comments instead of posts:
The-Whiz wrote:

There you go. Another reason. I agree with him.
Anyway, if I had to put it simply, I disapprove. People could just place comments on their own projects (and if they don't have any, they can upload a useless one), and comments aren't really related to the forums. So there.

seeing as the forums are part of the website anything relevant to the site is relevant to the forums, also heres an easy way to fix this, it doesnt count comments on your own projects, plus the 50 posts on the forum is the wrong way to go about stopping people from using signatures to spam seeing as it causes more spam then it prevents.

FantasyTales, what I and The-Whiz meant is that in the forums people act different than they do in the comments. Read my comments and then read my posts. Or read yours. Yes, it's a good idea about making it not count if you place comments on your own projects. Curators can't favorite their own projects and let them get on the front page; they can favorite them but the projects won't get on the front page. And as for the rule causing more spam than it prevents, it depends. Though it is true that sometimes when something is banned, people want to do it. It could be similar with the 50 posts rule. But who knows?

i spammed for my signature, as did everyone else, though i tried to keep it relevant to the topic most of the time.
