Thanks for your feedback.
Unfortunately, Scratch 1.2.1 does not currently support cyrilic symbols.
We are working on a new version of Scratch that will handle cyrilic and other non-Latin character sets.

Did you try making your own ru.po file to add to Scratch?
We already had someone work on a Russian translation for the Scratch interface for us (to be included in the next Scratch release), but would you be interested in helping us translate the Scratch website?

The Scratch website is now multilingual, and we could send you a .po file, much like the one for Scratch, to fill in for the Scratch website.

This is only an offer in case you are interested.

Either way, thanks for the feedback, and please keep checking these forums for announcements about when cyrilic script is supported in Scratch.
