Re: Goodbye Scratch 1.4 - 5th May Discussion

This is my last post on 1.4.

Let us cherish the memories of the site. Our friendships. Our projects. Our forum posts. Our homepage. I have spent the whole day watching old projects, reading old conversations, and just enjoying the simplicity of this site. I'm almost brought to tears by this, but we'll all get used to it. At least we'll still be able to post from the 1.4 editor.

So farewell, 1.4, you'll be in our hearts. Forever.

Help with music please!|Nate, new OC! Bye 1.4... We'll miss you! http://fc02.deviantart.net/fs71/f/2012/298/4/4/44c5a8acdd0f4bf07c2c5b86371ccfd3-d5ivtt4.gif

-sigh- So many memories... I hate seeing this site go. I'm probably gonna make a new account for 2.0. But I'm still disappointed. I wish they could archive this site into maybe 1.4.scratch.mit.edu. That'd help.

They are going to archive the forums, but not the main site.

Does anyone else remember the Experimental Viewer? It was basically a prototype of Scratch 2.0.

Haha, the layout of that was so weird.  lol

Anyways, I personally like 2.0, but what if new Scratchers join after 2.0 comes out, and they look at the 1.4 project editor from a video or something and think that the 1.4 editor is better? They should add a 1.4 editor to download somewhere on the site, because the only way you could still have 1.4 is if you downloaded it before 2.0 came out.

Re: Goodbye Scratch 1.4 - 5th May Discussion

I'm sad about this not because of the change of the website, but because I like to create things in on a software on my PC, not online, if i ever had an internet trouble I would risk to lose all the work spent on that project, and i'm afraid that soon, scratch 1.4 will not have all the new features planned on the new scratch 2.0 website scripting

Re: Goodbye Scratch 1.4 - 5th May Discussion

Yes, I admit. I‘m sad because 1.4 will be gone tomorrow, and I‘m not sure if I‘ll get used to the 2.0 website. But that‘s how life works... Nothing lasts forever, and we can‘t have all the things we want, right?

But please, if you are going to quit Scratch because of 2.0, don‘t do that. I beg you.  sad

And this, my friends, is my last post on 1.4.

I am looking forward to Scratch 2.0, but I will miss the old website.

Re: Goodbye Scratch 1.4 - 5th May Discussion

I actually started to upload projects to this website today, and the fact of changing way of doing things in scratch makes me uncomfortable, i would like to see a downloadable version of scratch 2.0 too

I remember just about everyone I've ever talked to on the forum because my memory is just like that, but there've been a lot of new users from my few-year hiatus that I'm still getting familiarised with

Eh, you post occasionally enough still that I wouldn't say you are inactive.

Thing is, I saw a banana shaped cushion the other day and thought of you. I also saw a broccoli shaped one and thought of veggie, and a donut shaped one and thought of TDD.

Re: Goodbye Scratch 1.4 - 5th May Discussion

This isn't my last post on here, but I'd like to say something.

Scratch 1.4 has really changed my life. I've found people who share my interests, I've collaborated and created with other amazing scratchers. It's weird that I'm feeling so emotional over a computer programming language, but it is hard for me to change what I've been doing for years, and move on.

The ST's plans for the future are unknown, but I'm glad to think that the community will always be kind and helpful, the language will always be a fun and easy way to be introduced into programming, the motto will always be: Imagine, Program, Share, and I will always cherish the moments that Scratch has changed my life in my heart.

This speech might sound cheesy, it might sound dumb and just written for attention, but I want to tell you all what I really feel about Scratch, and how big it is for me, and how wonderful the community is.

Thank you Scratch Team, for creating a programming language that anyone can love, and learn from.

Goodbye 1.4. I'll always remember you and treasure your awesomeness in my heart.
