Scratch 1.4 must be kept!

I'm here to say this website is better. It really is. It can actually search. The scratch team seems to be forgetting to copy over our forums, and I am getting desperate. We all need to admit this. We have limited time because May 9 is the day the site is closed and will switch to 2.0. Please join in this campaign to save Scratch as we know it, for the three days before May 9 this is closed also.

The beta site will continue to be improved.  I don't love it, but I think that the ST will continue to improve the site.  Also, this topic doesn't really fit here.

The Beta scratch 2.0 is still in Beta remember  wink  It's not finished yet.
I'm sure the Scratch Team will make many improvements to it in the future!
Why don't you email the scratch team with feedback about how scratch 2.0 can be improved?

Better yet, the user has beta access and can use the beta 2.0 forums instead.  wink

I agree that Scratch 1.4 should be kept. However, this topic should be posted in Suggestions as this is in Questions about scratch.

Even though lots of us want it, it won't be kept (not even a "switch to old looks")  sad  I support old site, at least old looks, though.

Tip of the whatever: Don't post in threads older than 2 weeks unless your post will actually be useful.
It's the last day of 1.4! *cries* (quote from NeilWest, rest by me) by the time you read this it probably will be 2.0  sad

Three ways to help
1. Post about it in the 2.0 forums
2. Make hundreds of 1.4 projects to slow 2.0's copying down
3.Make a 2.0 project about it(2.0 because the ST will notice there)
Let's save scratch! wink

Scratch is perfectly safe. The Scratch Team is just upgrading it.

Do you really want to ignore how hard they worked to finish the new version? Why don't you give 2.0 a try? Trust me, you'll get used to it.

They're still finishing it. Just wait a bit more, I'm sure they'll add the Search function.

Ok, it isn't all that bad, but I like this site better. I have set things up there because of the transition

I don't really think this is going to work. The Scratch Team will have 3 days to update the data.

Re: Scratch 1.4 must be kept!

Alright, the ST is using commercial hardware, 200 projects would just add 2 to 3 minutes to the transfer speed. The only problem i have with 2.0 is the forums mobile view doesn't work on 3DS at all anymore. That's the ONLY issue i have.

Hundereds of projects will stall them. And I am going to help and that is a strategy I will use.

Okay, let's that it works. But what if that caused a data error, corrupting the info? Projects would be lost. The Scratch Team's hard work would be lost.

Most likely, that won't happen.

Well, there would be always a risk.

But, anyway, I'm pretty sure this strategy won't work.

Re: Scratch 1.4 must be kept!

100 projects won't slow them down.
A million projects will only slow them down for 1 day.
And anyway, it's stupid to try to delay it anyway.
Lemme explain.

Scratch is educational. That, at first glance, might make you think that making it a bit harder to use and a tough (relative to what we've had before, that is) time for current Scratchers getting used to 2.0 is a bad idea. But the truth is, if you ever use Scratch for it's intended purpose, which is, to start you in programming, you'll encounter a lot of similar and worse issues. The transition to 2.0 is a very, very small obstacle compared to what you will face if you program in other languages.

Which is exactly Scratch's purpose. To break down the frustration of getting over the programming barrier into smaller parts.

Oh, and it probably would have been a good idea to day this 2 years ago when they started all the hard work.

#2 is not ok to do. Slowing it down won't help at all, and intentionally uploading hundreds of spam projects for this reason could even get you banned.
