If you've ever met anyone outside of concert halls that like the same music as you then it definitely isn't as unpopular as you think, and if it makes you feel any better 90% of my friends aged 11-22 have heard of and regularly listen to songs by most of the artists you listed and I've heard probably all of them on the radio in the last year or two
I'm listening to I Don't Love You Anymore by Bomb the Music Industry. I remember seeing them live and yelling the words to this with a room full of other people and my throat burning after. It makes me wish they would tour again

well most students at my school have heard of the songs
they just don't appreciate them at all
what i mean is the majority of teens my age (im 13 by the way) listen to this modern pop music because they think its good music or they think its cool
but if they explored the music by artists i said and many more they would probably believe that the older music was better music but they would still listen to modern pop most of the time because they want to be "in" or popular or dominant socially despite their knowledge that older music is better
well its not "better" i suppose for everyone but its just my opinion

I wouldn't necessarily say that "older" music is better compared to "modern" music. When people judge "modern" music, they usually look at the pop charts and not all the great indie and rock stuff that's going on elsewhere. Even in the 60's, 70's, 80's, there was just as much bad pop. It's just over time, we've been able to sift out the bad music with what we now consider classics. Just look, 30 years from now, people are going to say: "Ugh, I hate the music in 2043, I remember when music was good in the 2010s."

yeah i remember a reddit post asking if "40+ redditors hated the likes of michael jackson, prince" and so on
the general consensus was that they didnt hate them, they hated "new kids on the block, spice girls and debbie gibson" and the rest of the people youve ever heard of
the post ended with this edit:
"Also: Kanye, Muse, Radiohead, Arcade Fire, Eminem, all quite talented, all have different styles, therefore granting us the power of interpreting those styles and judging whether we like them or not.
But hell, maybe we're all over thinking and should just go listen to whatever [...] we want, because "music is reflection of self""
