Aaaaand, I just beat the game earlier today. Pretty fun.  smile  I still plan to eventually work on the challenges and boost mode courses.

You know I don't think I'll ever be getting the Wii U after all.

As far as I can see, the game library sucks. Really. I don't enjoy Mario games that much. The launch titles aren't that great at all, save for maybe ZombiU, which looks awesome, but my parents wouldn't let me get that either.

Until it's game library expands more so I can see some really cool content, then I'll maybe get it. The library will probably flop though as much as the Wii's did. That's one reason I absolutely despise the Wii: horrible game library. The Wii is a party console, and so is the Wii U. The only time I'll ever play a Wii is when I go to some party, the kids there will be playing Mario Kart or something, I'll jump in and play for a while, but that's it. My Wii still just sits in my closet waiting to be sold.

I can see what you're saying with the game library - at it's current stage, it's a bit unvaried and lacking a lot of the classic Nintendo franchises (if that's what you're looking for at least). Also, while I enjoy the Mario platforming games, I understand it's not for everyone - even my brother refuses to play them with me (unless perhaps we have friends over).

However, it is backwards compatible. So you could consider getting the Wii U, transferring all of your data from your old Wii, and then sell the old wii at a place like GameStop. (But be sure to keep your wii remotes!)  tongue

Check out this Wikipedia article with a list of the currently available (and soon-to-come) games. If you like Nintendo games, you can count on Nintendo making a new games following the series of Mario Kart, Metroid, Legend of Zelda, Mario (3D), Animal Crossing, Kirby, Super Smash Bros., and many other series. If you prefer third-party or indie games, there will probably be more of those to come. (With the Wii, there was no HD support, so many game makers decided it wouldn't be worth the time to make it work with the console... however now that has changed.)

Alas, it's just my slightly biased opinion. But I'd definitely consider it.

Re: Wii U Official Topic Thread

Nintendo just had one of there "Nintendo Direct"s today. Sounds like they're working on a lot of games for the upcoming year! And there's even going to be a virtual console trial campaign where one virtual console game will be released each month, and for each month only you will be able to buy it for 30 cents. What a bargain! Check out the video heretongue

Here's an interesting (photoshopped) image of what the upcoming Super Smash Bros. games might look like. While there are some unusual characters to have included (Rosalina? Knuckles? Baby Mario? Ghirahim?) But it still makes me excited for the game, since Nintendo said they would have demos of the game at E3 if I remember correctly.

I highly doubt Knuckles. Ghirahim is likely, though he would have to be alongside Ganondorf.

I don't expect too many new faces, especially 3rd-party characters. Probably be characters like the protagonist of the new Fire Emblem, Bowser Jr., Waluigi and some lesser characters from other series. I'd love to see Groose  tongue

One thing worth considering is that the game will be on both 3DS and Wii U. This being said, it's possible that the character roster might be limited due to graphical and memory limitations. But who knows.

I know I'm kind of being a hater, but I just wanted to post this: http://news.yahoo.com/nintendo-wii-u-sa … 07913.html

I was right about the Wii U being a failure, even though I know there's still some time left for Nintendo to get its act together.

I was right about the Wii U being a failure, even though I know there's still some time left for Nintendo to get its act together.

Wii U has indeed been much less successful than Nintendo expected, selling much lower than their estimates from last year. But in retrospect, many other consoles - Nintendo included - have also had poor launches, and they've become just as successful. What matters is that there is software for people to buy so people will want to get the console eventually. Although poor marketing played a role in Wii U's poor start, so did the lack of titles being released - Pikmin 3 was delayed all the way to August (was planned to come in spring), and there weren't any major titles released in January or February.

Luckily though, Nintendo has announced many titles that will be coming out later this year (and next year) - including Mario Kart, Super Mario, Super Smash Bros, Zelda, Zelda Remake, Pikmin 3, and more. It's hard to find a Nintendo fan that wouldn't be interested in any of those titles. Plus, who knows, Nintendo might drop the price of the console by about $50 (as they've done with other console launches.) So if some people skipped the Wii U early on, I can still respect them - but I do hope Nintendo pulls things together with all of the upcoming first party titles.  smile

The thing is, I don't think Nintendo can ship the Wii U for any less money. It costs more than what Nintendo is selling the Wii U for them to make a console, so they're already losing money. They depend on games to get some money, but like you said, not many good games are coming out. So, Nintendo really needs their new first party titles.
