Need help with Sprites

I'm working on an educational game with the main sprite is a train.
At the beginning of the game I would like to allow the user to choose what color they want the train to be.

How do I make this happen? and have it so that train is used throughout the game and doesn't switch back to a different color train?

make sure the base train has color (not grey scale) and use this

change [color v] effect by [10]
from the "Looks" drawer.
