I walked around London, almost got run over by a double-decker bus, ate at a nice fish and chips restaurant. I didn't see Big Ben though. Went to Buckingham Palace, and thought the guards were statues, I poked one of them, and I saw him blink. So then they started marching, and I figured out they were soldiers xD
Yeah, Heathrow was the worst part, and it was an indirect flight; I was on my way to Nigeria to see family.

I know, it's awful. Last year, we were traveling as a group of about 40 for an event in Europe (not the Olympics). When we got there (from NYC) it felt like 3 am. We were told to stay in this little area with about ten chairs for about 20 minutes. Guess how long we stayed in that spot.
12 hours.
40 people sharing 10 chairs. Let me tell you, sleeping on the floor of a major airport is not fun. Then after that, it turned out they overbooked our plane so they sent 8 of us, including me, to Germany! We were supposed to go to Switzerland!!!!! So we spent the night there, just the 8 of us. But the next day we made it safely (we love you, British Airways )
Terrible experience.

Also on my indirect flight, I was in Germany. And we were waiting for our flight for 4 hours. At 1 A.M. Remind me to remind my parents NEVER to make indirect flights overseas. Ever.

Yep! I've friends who've been to London for business reasons and had mostly pleasant experiences (But they weren't really hanging around places people usually go to London for!)
I don't usually like going to the touristy places in cities either. From my experience, wandering around and meeting locals usually gives you a better idea of what the place is like, and where the best pizza and coffee is :U
