Making a game!

Hello everypony, I am deciding to make a new game, it's called My Little RPG. And I will need A LOT of help.

It's a 16-bit game where you try to get your cutie mark and then you descend into adult stage, and a villain called King Elemento who threatens to destroy all of Equestria using his elemental magic and take over. The player and a sidekick which is one of the mane six has to stop King Elemento.

This game will feature...
A character creator
Final Fantasy fighting
Side Quests
Cutscenes (without showing the player's character)
Inventory
Books
Potions
Magic spells
Conversations
And much more!

So far, here's the team.

Re: Making a game!

With "16-bit game", what exactly do you mean? 16-bit style graphics? Graphics and music? A game made taking in mind every single limitation that 16-bit consoles had at the time?

I could help with music, but I don't know how to make 16-bit style music, which is why I ask this. c:

Well, 16-bit everything, the music can be 8-bit or 16-bit but everything else is definite;y 16-bit.

Re: Making a game!

Oh. I only have some experience writing 8-bit stuff in FamiTracker, but I'll see if I can emulate a 16-bit feel, maybe using synthesizers and the such.

I'm already coming up with some music, I'll upload a MIDI when they're done.  big_smile  I may also upload a rough character creator with placeholder graphics, to start building over that right away.

EDIT: Oh, right now I'm writing:

-Intro cutscene music
-Title screen music
-An epic FF-ish battle song

I guess you could put me under all music spots lol  tongue

Re: Making a game!

Hey, I finished a battle track, it's here. It was recorded in DOSBox with an emulated Gravis UltraSound, hope that's 16-bit enough for the game  wink  It loops perfectly in the Flash player.  big_smile

Here's a MIDI of that, too.

Well, I'm going to soon roughly create the story but you can write the cutscenes.

Re: Making a game!

I uploaded a rough demo of my idea for the intro, and title screens. The music changes and fade in/outs run beautifully in the Flash player :3

I'm particularly proud of the music: They're 3 audio files meant to sound like one, changing to the next when the user changes the screen.

I think I should change that theme song - I want something less pacey, with an orchestral feel. But hard rock was all I came up with at the time  tongue

Re: Making a game!

EDIT: Hello, everyone just to say the games name has been changed to Equestrian Elements, sorry if you're bothered, I just wasn't keen on the name My Little RPG.
