seiken densetsu III is somewhat obscure mainly because it was only released in japan and it's a game i quite enjoy (although i play the english fan-translation because i do not speak japanese)
it's the sequel to secret of mana for those who know that (quite a few, i'd assume)

And trust me I'm sure about the whole "obscure is better" thing, another term for someone like that is "hipster". There are a lot of obscure games that should stay obscure...

UFO:Enemy Unknown/X-Com:UFO Defense, it still has plenty of fans, but modern gamers are playing the "reboot" more often than the original 1993 DOS version (I run it with a DOS emulator).
