Re: Phoenix Productions 2: Igniting Inspiration!

Is there a specific job for me yet or shall I just pop in when something needs doing?

Re: Phoenix Productions 2: Igniting Inspiration!

Here is the rough sketches video. Listen to the song and hopefully get an idea of what's going on here

That do?
Blender is free, and it does other stuff as well, but it's extremely complicated, and it's a bit like marmite. Love it or Hate it.
And now we need people to do art for each scene. Someone do backgrounds similar to those shown and some people do character art. We'll have to decide on the exact memories we're going to use, but then do character art, then BRING ON THE ANIMATING!

I'll sort out the graphics

Re: Phoenix Productions 2: Igniting Inspiration!

Humhum has Photoshop (right?? You did last time I checked). If you do basic cat graphics
humhum, could you put like blendy clever effects on things to make them more realistic, or so they are different to every other piece of cat art on scratch.
Stockman, you can help this along by making your art a bit realistic, and not pure manga but maybe a variation on the style?
The Photoshop step isn't essential, but it might be cool. Whaddya think?
Who can do backgrounds?
For the memory backgrounds, they need to have a thought clouds around them to show that they're memories.
@stickman, for the first scene, do firestar with his fringe over his eyes and without. I'll animate the transition so he flops his fringe on the first word 'crack' in the lyrics.
What have I forgot this time?
We did just ignore someone who tried to apply for us.
Do you think he can come in?
So much to do! It'll be worth it though.

This seems so crazy!(In that there's a lot to do) But that's fine - I'll get to work on it!

Wow. Just skimmed over the posts. Ooookay so I'll try my best to get all this info in

Bored, got free time, and want to gain some recognition.

How active are you (--/10)?
2. I tend to come on at weekends, but that's about it.

What role(s) do you want (No lead roles)?
Coding and pixel art is what I'm good at, depends on my mood, lol.

How good do you consider yourself at that role (--/10) ?
Coding 8/10   pixel art 7.5/10, depends on inspiration...

Example of a good project showing skills in wanted role:

A little about yourself *This is optional* (You can show off, or type whatever you want here):
This post appears very unimpressive, yes, but, with good ideas, I can make things work pretty smoothly.
And by pixel art, I mean 32x32 and smaller in general, depending on what is being drawn.
Duno, this just seemed like a colab. that had potential to actually get things done, so got interested.

In. Love how smooth your game was and the graphics were smooth and polished. For this project, I think you would be a great member and contributor, even if you do only come on during the weekends (XD just like me '-')

@Pinnipediator: I'll do the thumbnail for the project, and if you like the style then I'll continue that for the rest of the animation. Now that we have the basic planning outline (thanks, Pinnipediator!  big_smile ), We can use the music and add fitting animation.

So, for all members right now Pinni can adjust roles, he's (or... she? Uh...) admin. We'll basically work on the bare animation- for people who want to do it quickly, coloring can be optional and other members can color them in later.

Anything I'm missing? Haven't been on, sorry guys.

Re: Phoenix Productions 2: Igniting Inspiration!

Im he.
And rushing because of colour's fine.
Actually, come to think of it, don't add colour until after we've animated completely. It's much easer to animate on scratch especially without colour. Do make sure that it isn't White, it's transparent and that there aren't any gaps in the outline.
We won't just use fill tool, but we might in some places, and I haven't seen the art yet so we could end up filling it anywhere.

Re: Phoenix Productions 2: Igniting Inspiration!

Luuurve the background, the moon especially is gorgeous, but the sky needs to be a little darker (maybe?)
firestar could be more orange and jagged and 'cool'
I'm not saying it isn't cool, it's just friendly cool, not 'dark' cool. If you get what I mean.
I am luurving that grass too. No one change the grass for anything, unless anyne disagrees, that grass is staying exactly how it is now!
I love the grass and moon, but everything else needs to be darker, cooler, more evil. Not evil as in 'the joker' evil or 'the terminator' evil or 'king galbatorix' evil or even tigerstar evil, just colder, more harsh, more victimising and hopeless, less rounded, thinner lines.
And I hope I didn't just sound really mean. I don't want you to replicate my thoughts or anything, just make what you've got colder and sharper and sleeker.
I hate giving constructive critiscism. I'm terrible at it. I always sound mean, or feel like I'm sounding mean and start apologising hopelessly for nothing. I hope I haven't done any of those just now.
And shall we work with colour just yet? Starscream, dj, humhum, you're all animators, colour, or not? Is it specifically easier for any one of you at all? If it is, say so, and we won't expect coloured stuff from you. Remember though, if it isn't coloured, make sure it's transparent not White, or at least there isn't White outsde the main outline otherwise it's a pig to sort out.
Have I turned into the bossy trying-to-be-or-sound-organised one? If I have, just say so, I ont mind, I'll make your lives better by saying things shorter and try and make stuff sound like less work.
Yeah. Anyway. We need the artwork for each scene in colour or not.
Maybe two or three pieces for each character or moving thing for each scene, unless it needs more or less. We'll have this number because this art'll be good art not mucked about with art that's been animated.
The term keyframe (have you heard of it?) comes from the idea that most of the animated stuff that you watch has lots of keyframes, that when they play they make an animation, but clever software like flash can make tweens between two keyframes that make it smoother and make up any difference. Or something like that. When we animate, we want to fill in the gaps. We don't want every frame like a keyframe, we just want enough to consider animating like filling in gaps, so that the art stays better looking, not clumsy and mucked about with and this post is huge and I'm listening to creepy music now and I'll shut up some time soon and I'm on holiday now and it's Easter soon and if I sound like I understand stuff I don't really much I just know enough to piece approximations of facts out of facts and now I've changed track and I'll shut up now.

Re: Phoenix Productions 2: Igniting Inspiration!

That post is huge and scary. You don't have to read or understand or any of it past line 21
but if you did I was listening to bleed like me by garbage. It's not that bad but you wouldn't want to do an amv of it.
Yeah. Art. That's what's next. How many times have I said that now? I'm hopeless at it, so I'll just give you constructive critiscism when I can bear to possibly make out a slightly bad or unideal thing in something amazing that I definitely couldn't do myself.

Re: Phoenix Productions 2: Igniting Inspiration!

Wow. That is amazing, everything you just said! No, you're not being bossy, and no, you're not being annoying or anything. I totally agree! I'm not very good at animating with color, so I'll probably do some outlines then color them in. I'll improve the pic when I have time, and glad you like the grass.  smile  It was a combo of A LOT of Photoshop effects. There was some blur, then some sharpening (don't ask why I blur it then make it clearer), a bit of a smudge filter, a blending tool, then the smudge filter at a different setting. Oh, now I'm talking (typing?) fast, useless, stuff. Kay, bye.

Have you ever done filter-liquidify? It's really funny! Do you know how to use the healing, or spot healing brushes? They're also pretty cool and useful.

Yup I do. The liquify option is really cool. I use it on text sometimes to make it look creepy. XD I do a bit, but don't really use them...

The healing brush is useful for loads of things. I slendermanned David camoren with it at school once. No political reference there......
But yeah, those people who can be arty, you know what to do next.
Try and go for a variation on Japanese manga, in colour or not.

See if you can fit my attempted constuructive, and thought insulting but turned out it wasn't so I just sounded stupidly apologetic critiscism!
Just because it sounded stupsly apologetic doesn't mean you can ignore it.

well, you could, and go off on an imaginitive tangent, and I'd think that was col and creative, but we might not use it.

Re: Phoenix Productions 2: Igniting Inspiration!

Hey, guys, I'm thinking I may resign from this collab.  I have a couple of other collabs on my plate right now as well as an animation shop, and I haven't been getting any work done at ALL.  Phoenix just doesn't seem like the sort of collab that I fit well into, you know?

Anyhow, I'll pop by once in a while, and if you ever need help, I'll be willng to lend a hand.

Hope you guys aren't angry at me,
~ StarscreamClone ~

Re: Phoenix Productions 2: Igniting Inspiration!

Hi there guys. There something I gotta say.
I enjoyed working with you but I'm a busy child with too much on my hands let alone a lot of Scratching to do, managing my own collab, part of another and composing a lot of music for the same shop as Starscream. It didn't seem helpful joining in at an inconvient stage and it's not really my thing. I do hope you understand.

I'd be happy to give a helping hand once in a while but I'm sorry but I have to resign. Sorry for the double whammy too with Starscream leaving.

Hope for the best

~DJ

Ah. Okaay. We aren't angry, or I'm not, but I just looks like me and humhum again.
Humhum, y'around?
We need the art. I can do a bit. But not much. I specialise in banners and album covers and posters and stuff.  hmm
I would have replied this sooner but I hadn't realised that both of you had posted, and I just saw djs name in the most recent posted person box for ages, so I thought it was just the all is fine post still.

Where did you guys get to in your art anyway, If you aren't gone already.

Or djs art. Starscream, you were animating weren't you?  Anyway. Art. Then animating. We were going to do this just two people originally to start of with so now we are back to four isn't too bad.  smile
(how's that for optimism? I thought I was just annoying and depressed).
