Text Translation in the Speech Block

When the children paste in their Tamil (their native language is Tamil) script (they use an on screen keyboard) into a the speech block text area to text always shows as "? ? ? ? ? ?" ... would there by chance be a workaround ?

That means that the character is unknown by scratch....
Try changing the language setting - the globe on the menubar i think
