Same here. Being a new scratcher really does not bother me, except that I cannot post pictures or links. I suppose the reason I am not a Scratcher yet is because I have only posted two projects, but I do not have time to post more, because I put all of my time into updating my existing projects to perfection.

To become a Scratcher, you must simply contribute in a positive manner. Constructive comments on projects, posting to the forum, even welcoming New Scratchers. Eventually, a mod will notice your good deeds and grant you Scratcher status.

Well, I've been on scratch for about a year, and I have about 30 comments, not many friends, but a lot of projects. Just keep contributing, and you will be a scratcher in no time.

Just contribute positively to the community (leave constructive criticism, put out projects, be active in the forums) and you'll be a regular Scratcher in no time. And also, there's no hurry
EDIT: Sorry, forgot to mention this before, but there's a great guide on the front page of the New Scratcher forum specifically on the New Scratcher status: http://scratch.mit.edu/forums/viewtopic.php?id=72486
Hope that helps!

It's not automatic.
You could be a Scratcher for 3 years being inactive, and still be a New Scratcher.
And besides, what's the big deal with the "New Scratcher" Status? Pictures and inks aren't that important.

Just contribute positively, and eventually you'll be a scratcher. I personally don't care. All Scratchers get are.
•A shorter wait time between posts? I don't care. I don't post excessively.
•The title scratcher? It's just a title. I don't care.
•A signature? That would be cool, but I can wait.
•Pictures and Links? I never post pictures or links.
So the lesson is, be patient.

Because you only have three posts.

It is automatic, but you need at least one post on the forums and things like that.
And those aren't (well, links maybe) that important - Editting is the most important part. We don't like to wait 6 hours to correct a typo.

It's true e_e I either have to wait 3 minutes and waste what could've been an interesting post on an interesting thread to instead correct a word I misspelled, or report it and wait for a moderator to come online while I sit in shame, knowing people are reading my typos :'(
You're lucky though! You only have like a week left of being a New Scratcher! I've got three!

For one, making topics like this and asking to be promoted to a Scratcher doesn't help it happen any faster. If you just wait and be patient, you will get it quicker.
Also, just be active on the main website and forums. Post projects, make comments, post on topics, be part of the community, etc. And most of all, follow the rules.

Yeah... I usually am paranoid, and I recheck my posts before submitting. But even though I have spellcheck on, I might need to add a thought. Pseudoedit: Or delete something which I don't like saying. This was also an example of waiting
And thanks, I guess I registered earlier.
Pseudoedit: "At least 180 seconds have to pass between posts. Please wait a little while and try posting again."
ARGH

Okay, that might have been a little dramatic...
Everybody makes mistakes, don't feel bad if you make a simple typing error.

Even simple typing errors like these mke people feel that a usr isn't very good. I don't know exactly why though.
