Nah, I knew about it for a while. I just stumbled across that comic and knew I had to have it in my signature.
@Zygorithm: I'll upload the new version tomorrow (check in maybe 12 hours? )
@Jens: How long did it take? And I'm on Safari, so maybe Safari's file drag/drop speed is slow.

Oh, phew. I was worried for a minute there.

Try it in Chrome (also, could you post a link to the generated XML? I can probably speed the deserializer up substantially)

@Hardmath123
Can I get a link to the xml too? I want to see what issues there may be after conversion for my project, if there are any.
But whoah. I certainly hope 18MB isn't a problem for Snap. I'm only on Beta 3 and haven't added the bag, start menu, catch mechanism, randomized wild battles, or the storage. Not to mention I haven't even loaded a third of my soundtracks and room sprites. I've seen Chrome load a 41 MB Bastion game without a hiccup so it can certainly handle a 2D game.

Yes, it just went live this morning. The interface will probably change over time; this is just a quick solution. Think of this feature as still alpha.
Where does it share to?
EDIT: nevermind, figured it out. It'd be nice to have a user page like Scratch, though.

When you open a shared project, up in the URL bar you'll find something like
http://snap.berkeley.edu/snapsource/snap.html#present:Username=bh&ProjectName=vee
You can do whatever you like with this URL; anyone can open it without login.
Eventually we'll have something like the Scratch front page. The issues standing in the way are legal rather than technical; we're all terrified about various potential disasters. Scratch's quarter-million users (more accounts than that but many are inactive) find problems really quickly; our dozens of users are perhaps more responsible, but less vigilant in aggregate.

Ah, I see. Well, you seem to have a lot of potential Snap! moderators around...

We used to have a rule in the Usenet days that the text you write yourself has to be bigger than the text you quote.
Yes, we'll recruit all you guys as moderators, but my understanding of the Scratch process is that it depends on thousands of people clicking "report" before anything really comes to the moderators' attention. So 1/3 of those thousands of people are awake and not in school at any moment, 24/7. That's what we aren't going to have when we get started.
I suppose at some point we'll just have to try it and see what happens. We can always pull the plug if it gets too scary. But first Jens and I have to talk with the UC and Miosoft lawyers, respectively. (Luckily Jens is a Miosoft lawyer! )

Lol.
Jens: Can we make that?
Jens with lawyer voice: Yes.
Also, if its okay with you and Jens, I might make a little website that takes a username and project name and redirects you to the opened project.

Here's the Python 2 version of the new, fixed Snapin8r: https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B1UC0dDhQyzMVGpIQmw2bEluSFU/edit?usp=sharing

I've shared one of my projects.
What can we do now with that ?

Random request: can you erase my account? I decided I wanted to keep 'Hardmath123', and I have a friend who wants 'mathy'. Since it doesn't really matter right now, I'd like to fix it. Thanks.
Also, I don't really see a share menu option… it's probably in a really obvious place but I don't see it.

File -> Open -> Cloud -> select project -> "Share"
Then Open, and copy URL from address bar!
Example link
@Jens: btw, "Stay signed in" never works for me (Chrome on OS X). And I think Snap! objected to having an exclamation mark in the project name...

Talk about hypocrisy…
Turns out I was using a local downloaded copy of Snap!, so I didn't see the changes. Silly me.

Nihil obstat.
Thanks!
Luckily, I took Latin, so I didn't have to look that up.

I get that error, too, for all but Example link".
