I do. I'm 'danwestftw' or 'Daniel West'.
Whichever works.

Ugh. I can't stand any of that music. I have strange tastes. If you need any of my instruments though, I use sheet music. I can't play by ear to save my life, and I'm definitely not doing tab. It makes my eyes hurt.
If no one minds, shall I just not involve myself with that stuff and start writing up song ideas?
I'll start making patternmusic bases.
Hey, we could make a patternbase and jam along to it! That would be cool. I'll start making patterns to jam along to.
Anything to save me from radiohead.
I don't really like Radiohead either, but as long as I don't have to sing it, it should be ok.
Writing songs would be awesome, I've got a few ideas as well. We should skype sometime

I'd be amazed if anyone here had heard of any of the music I like.
And I don't have skype. Or facebook. Or anything like that. I have email that I never use.
And yeah, I'll write songs. If I make a base, and post it on scratch, you guys can download it and mix in something that goes well with it from your instruments. We take it in turns, until everyone has recorded and mixed in something to the track. If I give everyone the scale it's based on, you guys improvise and/or compose to fit, and that saves the writing and sharing and transposing and everythingelseing of sheet music. We get something we (should) all like out of it, and it's quick, we just take it in turns to add. how's that for a plan? And if I make the bases on patternmusic which has an easy scales feature, then it's very easy for me to make my additions first off.
Who here has audacity?

I have audacity.
I can make atmospheres/ambiences and drums too.
Here is a song I wrote a few months ago.
Procrastination Written By Daniel P. West/NeilWest/SpicyChorizo
Woke on up on a summer day,
Outside I looked on the field where the children play;
It's so sunny outside.
Went out of the door,
Found so many sights galore;
This is where I'll spend the day.
Another game of soccer, another funny story.
Homework's for losers, summer's on my mind.
I'd like to win this match and bring some of the glory,
I'm leaving hard work behind.
One word for the sensation;
Procrastination.
Flowing colours in the air,
Happiness in everywhere;
First things in my thoughts.
Another dream coming,
Another dream coming;
I never want it all to stop.
Chorus
Then the day ended,
Nothing else to do.
The feelings all bended,
I guess we'd have never knew.
We just wished,
For another perfect day.
The last thing on our mind;
Were the things we left behind.
Chorus
The last thing on our mind (x2)
Were the things we left behind (x2)
-pause-
Procrastination

I know I dont really play an instrument in the band yet, But Id like to help with songs. I like NeilWest's.
If you look at most of the alternative music we listen to today (I listen to a station called alt nation) YOu hear a lot of Passion Pit, Imagine Dragons, New Radicals, 30 seconds to marz, cayucas and more. Most of those songs are either about love, or life. YOull also hear alot of sub step XD but never mind that unless we choose to add some.
I think that Our songs should be about the world its self, and our prospective of it.

Policy Concept
Verse 1:
I see the world inside of one
I see the world inside of 2
I see the world without 3
I see the world without me
I see the world all alone
I see the world standing one
I see the world,
I see the world
Chourus:
Fresh from me
Fresh from my mind
I see these policies
These concepts buggin me
Fresh from my world
Fresh from my time
See this policy
concept buggin me
(Drum Fill)
Verse 2:
I see the world with no surroundings
I see the world without stars
I see the world without cars
I see the world, no its not far
See its buggin me
Its killing me
My fantasy
These policy Concepts killing me
(Chorus)
Bridge:
My thoughts, not allowed
Thoughts too small, cant stand out
Those have following
Can stop my thinking
(Drum Fill)
(CHorus)
It was something I thought of earlier, Just an idea

Since we got some great song ideas so far, I think we can skip the cover and head straight away with the originals. Right now, I'm in the middle of trying to make a song out of your lyrics on guitar. It's sounding great! Almost finished with "Policy Concept"!

awesome. If you have some troubles I have a tune for it too
EDIT: also, I was thinking we should multitask abit and put it in an album. We should look at the names from before and pick one then make a picture 4 it

Hmm, well, for an album, I really like 'Owl Skull Cap', 'Conveniently Obscured Jellyfish', and 'Don't Ask'.

Cool, I was thinking something like Mass for Division, Fly Value, or Added Out. I just take ideas from the other page and mix them XD

I can sing and do art. Not to boast, but a lot of times when someone hears me sing for the first time they say i have a nice voice. I can also do art with Photoshop, so that might be helpful for you, less time needed to give yo your collab. XD
Shall I audition?Do you happen to play any instruments as well?
Also, it would be great to have you in supporting me with art design (as I am already an art designer). Y'know, it would be cool to have an art designer duo. Can you send me an example of your artwork (preferrably one that would look good for an album/single cover). I want our art style to seem modernist and mildly psychedelic.AwesomeStar360 wrote:
Another scratch band!?!?!?! yay!
Im interested in playing, I only play piano and trombone now though.
http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/AwesomeStar360/3238500Nice little trombone audition. I think you're good - I especially think you have a good sense of rhythm and beat, so that could be useful. Like I said, in the future, I might want to experiment with unconventional instrumentation that drives outside o the usual rock formula, and real, genuine trombone playing would sound much better than the sound of one being mimicked on a keyboard. Yeah, once we make a song incorporating brass sections and/or string sections (we've had quite a few people signing up already for instruments falling in these categories), we'll notify you.
It's great that you can play piano, as well, but I've already got that covered, so there's no need to worry about that.
Thanks for the audition, it'll be quite useful in the future! C:ElectricSparx wrote:
Band name suggestion:
Elite BreadstickNice idea. I want to see what pinni has as far as name ideas, and I'll also set up a topic in the "Interests Beyond Scratch" section, where I'll take up a poll of band name suggestions from other Scratchers, and they can also say which one of ours they think is the best.
EDIT - There we go.
Dont do any instruments. I will try to post an exmaope soon

Hmm, nice album covers, you both! I really, really like Fly Value, and Please Don't Wake Me Up is also great - maybe it could be the name of one of our songs.
Also, I'm about 95% finished with the melody for 'Procrastination'. Has an upbeat groove, kind of similar to Blur's "Sunday, Sunday".
I'll try to post a demo of both on guitar when they're finished.

I'll start on a drum beat - do you want analog or digital?

I was thinking, some albums are named after a song in the album. Do you think we should do that? If so I have some good ideas on how to turn Please dont wake me up or Fly Value into a song.
Offline
Please Don't Wake me up
Eyes Shut
No words no thoughts
My minds closing up
Red, White, Blue
Imagining that it's
Coming true
These stars wont stay around...
Chorus:
Please dont wake me up
Plese Please dont
Im solvin it out
Please Dont Wake me up
Its so sweet
but the worlds so rough
Please dont wake me up
Its not true so I can
Make it through
Verse 2:
Deep Thoughts
Fabric of my mind
Is my only cloth
Hard squint
The worlds so rough
better not take it in
These stars wont stay around..
(Chorus)
Bridge:
Hard to say Reality is
So Much
Dream Much
Hard to say reality...
(whisper)These stars wont stay around
(Quiet Voice)These stars wont stay
(Loud Voice or regular voice)These stars wont stay around!
(Chorus)
Please dont wake me up
oh no dont
Please dont wake me up
Please Please Please
Dont wake me up
DOnt wake me up.
THis was just an idea Ill post the rythm in a bit

If you don't mind, I'll go for the theme of people and how they think.
And I will start with something, and get back to you.
Oh I know. I'll write a song about being a classical guitarist when all your friends play rock.
And it will have poncy spaniard stuff in it. If that's okay.
And quite a bit of metal.
I'll make a base using patternmusic and chordbot.

'Please Don't Wake Me Up' sounds great. I improvised it and it sort of sounds like a Keane ballad, written in D major.
I'll continue working on that.
Meanwhile, 'Policy Concepts' and 'Procrastination' are pretty much done. I'll try to post a demo of both later today (no promises, though).
EDIT - I got ninja'd.

That sounds like a really good idea. Can't wait to hear.
And I'm about to listen to Star's version of Please Don't Wake Me Up. I'll tell you what I think.

It's fine so far. It's if they begin to get and sound samey that's when it becomes annoying.
We need to think up a good hook to fit along to all of these. Otherwise no one will remember us or like us because we wont stick in their heads.
I belive that earworms are good things.
Jet set jutnta by the monochrome set is a good earworm. So's rainbow factory, and always look on the bright side of life, but everyone's heard of that one....
Anyway, we need interesting hooks to make stuff interesting and memorable, and fun to listen to.
There's nothig wrong wit lots of good lyrics. If we go wrong anywhere, it'll be in the music.

Okay, Im going to make a song for fly value. I think its important that the tempo of our songs change a bit. SO Im making this one slower. I know were alternative and all, but I think a slow one is much needed in every album.
