Max Number of simultaneous keyboard strokes

Does anyone know what the max number of keyboard strokes is at the same time?
Basically I am trying to press 4 or 5 buttons at the same time but it is not signalling correctly.

I made a project to test this very problem once... I found out that it's never a problem of software limits, but rather the limits your hardware/software gives (my old keyboard let about 4 keys, this one has a much higher limit).

I believe it depends which keys, too -- some combinations work better than others.

I made a program to test this it seems 6 is the max, if you press certain combinations you can limit that limit to certain keys.
