I am a dubstep fan. Although if you want some quality dubstep, I suggest poking around on newgrounds. It's hard to find some stuff that is enjoyable while floating in the mainstream. My alltime favourite dubstepp song right now is here. You really should listen to it, it is really well done.

Two lads in my class produce dubstep tracks, but they're awful. They think their 2 tracks are amazing, but it's basically a 2-second 'wubwub' clip, stuck on loop for 3 minutes. good lord it's terrible.
'Professional Griefers' by deadmau5 is pretty good - though only because Gerard Way does vocals in it. xD

Skrillex does in fact classify as dubstep, his songs have the modulated bass and drops. His style of music has created the sub-genre of dubstep known as "Brostep" which is faster and generally louder.
What is "real" dubstep then? There is no "pure" dubstep like you seem to think, you probably just have a preferred sub-genre.
If Skrillex isn't dubstep then what is he?
