Okay... um... I'm pretty sure I'm the Leader so you're in! We need a replacement programmer anyway.

What is the current project we are working on, and how can I help out? Also, can you please put me on the full member list? (I think it might be a good idea to put the people's ranks next to their name on the list as well.)

Our current project is tank defense. it's a twist on the classic game "tower defense". Basically, you buy tanks to defend instead of towers but you have a character and can ride tanks to move them. The AI enemy has soldiers who are trying to get across (no AI other than to get to the player's base) and they also have tanks which can damage friendly tanks and probably have a much more sophisticated AI in them.
Currently, us programmers are waiting for the artists to finish up and actually do something... XD
No. currently we're just waiting on art.
And I cannot add you to the member's list. Someone else can tho so you will be added within a day most likely.

wait a minute... what rules and voting system? I had no idea we even had a voting system and a set of rules. Well, I guess you learn something new every day!

I've forgotten it too. I know that ianthestuntman can't be a member any more. I'll take him off the members list. Actually, I'll get rid of the members list.
so much wooork!

Okay. I will probably be good at the AI for the enemy soldiers and tanks. Are we doing this using the cloning feature on 2.0? Also, would you only be able to control one tank at a time? If so, I am not sure why somebody would buy more, unless the tanks have a mind of their own. Lastly, how long (estimate) might it be until the graphics are ready? I hope to be getting a promotion as early as possible.
Also, in reply to your other comment, the voting system is for a vote to determine if senior members can have a higher job (i.e. admin, organiser), and the rules are pretty much everything in the first post.

Hey, guys! Just curious, but would you like your collaboration listed in the Collaboration Directory? If so, please submit it here Thanks!
Fixed link. Sorry 'bout that.

I have another question: what does "Xi" stand for?

I've already done the tank movement and control programming. just not enemy AI or auto-attack range.
Promotions!
Um... check out this and this. Use the art from the first one and use the base from the second one. I use trig scrolling. If you want to add more roads, feel free. I also use multi-sprite scrolling but you can make it 1s1s if you wish. You can make an AI and stuff like that. Just make sure that all of the people follow the same path and that the tanks never leave the road if they're enemies.
IDEA (If you feel like it. you don't need to): make is so that when a player tank goes onto the track, soldiors/people can attack it. not just enemy tanks.
Another optional thing: Make people avoid tanks when they are walking through if it is in their way and add defense to some types so people have a minor AI in case the tank has too much def.
THE OPTIONAL THINGS ARE NOT REQUIRED AND I AM IN NO WAY EXPECTING YOU TO DO THEM! THEY ARE OPTIONAL! (I'm not discouraging it tho. If you want to, do it. It will certainly speed things up.)

So are we not going to use cloning on the 2.0 beta? I think that would be much easier, especially since it would allow for any number of tanks or enemies without having hundreds of sprites and tons of lag. Also, are there any remaining programmers besides me and you? In addition, should the ally tanks have their own AI? Lastly, will there be a level select, or at least levels in general? If so, we should probably start on that now.

We are mainly going to use 1.4 but when we get about halfway to three-fourths of the way done, we may move over to 2.0.
Other people can double as programmers if REALLY needed but no. Mainly just us.
Allies do not have their own AI. They simple shoot at any enemy that's close enough to them (probably the closer one if they're two for more of them).
levels will be maps, like the traditional TD type thing.
You can work on it whenever. for me it's like 10:00 so I'm signing off for today.
Nice sentence fluency by the way.

Okay, thank you for explaining. We should make only one or two of each type of enemy in the 1.4 project so we can add cloning in the transition to 2.0. Otherwise, we would have wasted all of our time on duplicate sprites with elaborate timing schemes. For me, it is one o' clock in the morning, so I will start working when I wake up later. Thanks for the compliment on my sentence fluency.

Hey guys, I kinda don't check the 1.4 forums anymore I just do 2.0 so I'm gonna try and start checking this thread again. If I don't post for a while can one of you comment on me on 2.0 and basically give me a kick?

gots it. how's the website? once we have that, we will have no need of the forum.

yeah. 1.4 is just for the engine and art. We can do the engine with probably just 1 tank but 2 would be simpler.
On a side note for 2.0. We would probably need 1 enemy tank and 1 ally tank. Then we can clone and get costumes and stats from there.

Ok, I think I have figured out how to do this. It was confusing to have the manual / automatic button always showing the opposite of the actual mode. I will try to create the enemies now, but it may take a while.

Yeah. That's a button to toggle. It's showing you what will happen. not what is happening. Often times I agree with your side of things but you can't appease everyone.

I have now uploaded it here: http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/StardustGogeta/3237649 It has one enemy and one enemy tank that walk across the track, it has better scrolling, and bug fixes with the tank health bar and the opening screen. There is also a "wave start" button that says "Ready?" in the top-right that spawns the enemies. Do you like it so far? I still don't understand how to do trig scrolling, so that is your job.

Nice.
The tank should go a little faster but that is easy. It should also pause to fire once the ally tank gets too close but that is easy too.
Trig scrolling is simple. It works like normal scrolling except instead of doing change scrollx by 1, it's change scrollx by (sin direction)*1
for y it's cosine, not sin.
You still do go to x: scrollx + (480*0) y: scrolly + (360*0) for center scrolling piece.
The trig is just there to make it scroll as if it's moving steps rather then going in the direction of the arrow key.
The trig scrolling is also only on the player and the ally tanks so you don't need to worry about it.
You can also replace the player with the other person costumes and the old tank with the new tank. That takes like 20 seconds though.

Argh! Wait! Cool! Hang on! People! Doing stuff! Wow! That stuff happens sometimes! Cool!
Hey, seeing as some people aren't active and I deleted the members list entirely because I couldn't be bothered, I think making a big sfx bank would be useful. I can take a while on it because we don't need it yet, I can have fun with it, make it big and realistic. Etc.
Good idea? Not good idea? Am I jus the weird one who's still a bit surprised that people still are active every now and again?
No. I'm not.
I'll just shut up, and make a sound bank, which doesn't involve shutting up, quite the opposite in fact. Oh well.

You don't say sin. You say sine. You can say cos and tan though. Don't ask why, I've no idea. According to a maths teacher, sinning is evil and you don't sin in maths (or programming). Oh well.

make as much sfx as possible. even if we would have no use for it. WE MAY!
And actually pinnipediator, only 2 of us (excluding you) are active. Technically that is plural but I would not call 2 people "people" in general
For the member list, you should have a list but only for senior members.

random joke I just came up with after seeing that:
Why is trig so evil?
β-cos it con-tan-s sin.
