That was pretty good but the part where the guy in the red shirt & vest talks is quiet and the guy after him kind of starts off unintelligibly so I have no idea what was being said for that entire chunklet!

We have a broadcasting class at school and make videos on iMovie.

I really like doing video editing and apart from my jumpcut youtube videos, I actually edit a lot of more professional looking videos
Recently I've been using a trial version of Premiere Pro and I really like it
Perhaps in the future I'll end up buying it

I'm definitely not much for Apple products, but iMovie is a really good program. I know you cannot port it to a PC but it comes with all Macs.
And just curious, what do you use? Windows Live Movie Maker? It's not necessarily bad, but it will have to do for free software.

I have adobe premiere elements. It's cool.
If only there was a full Open Source alternative to CS6. There are some opem source video editors, but nothing really of the caliber of Adobe's, or as good of a replication as GIMP. A powerful, open source video editor would be killer, but all of the ones I've tried are either not powerful enough, not polished enough, or not stable enough.

Do you mean "open source" or "free"? Because it doesn't sound like you're interested in modifying the program, just finding one that's totally perfect to begin with

I plan to make a few music videos with my phone.
That'll be fun.

Free would suffice, but in my experience proffessional (expensive) software > open source > freeware. That's not universal, but generally something worked on by a bunch of open-source enthusiasts is better than something released for free by a small deceloper.
My current go-to video editor is Adobe Premiere CS2.

CS2? If my old copy of corel paint from the 1990s is anything to go by, it won't have many more features than WMM and only publish to outdated formats...
Because my old corel paint isn't much better than MS paint.

Hey, now... CS2 is just from 2005. it's still pretty decent, the only reason I use it is that I can't afford to buy CS6 and don't encourage piracy that is ONLY to circumvent paying. (There are some morally justifiable reasons for piracy, such as to get a DRM-free version of something you own already) It's better than WMM for sure.
It supports .avi which is still a decent standard, though unfortunately not .mp4 (I just use a video comverter when I need to) as far as formats go. If you want to try it out there is a somewhat legit way to get them free, Adobe posted download links and product keys intended for people trying to reinstall it after they shut down the registration servers. So if you can live with that, just search "cs2" and you'll find the entire CS2 package on Adobe's site.

I make videos for my YouTube with some editing and effects (clicky clicky clicky!) hehe.
But what do you use to edit with? I just use Windows Live Movie Maker because I'm about as ghetto as they come, but I've heard of some pretty good video editing software out there.

I use Final Cut Express 4.
