Re: Bookworm Studios: The new and unique Scratch Collaboration!

I think it's a really cool idea  big_smile  It might be quite hard to do but i suppose we could give different tasks to different people. 1 person write it. One make the ebook. One design games...

Thanks!  smile  I think it would be a good idea to split the jobs, then it will go faster. Also we could try turning an existing book (from the bookworm library) into a interactive book. I will try and make a template for you to see.
Thanks, Cheeseeater  smile

If we made a few then we could make a gallery and turn it into a libary.
When i say interactive i mean like page turning and small games to do with the story, and maybe a option to read it to you.

What do you think, good idea or just stupid?
Thanks, Cheeseeater  smile

I think that's actually a really good idea! We could like each make a book and one of us makes a gallery!

I am making a template for you to see what is should look like. If we make a gallery then someone should be in charge of it, otherwise other people might add their games and stuff. Maybe if someone wants to add a book they tell the gallery owner and the gallery owner adds it, if they approve of it.  smile

Maybe i could help out with the bookworm forums, answer questions from new members and help with the interactive books. I would realy like to help out, and already checked out the libary! What do you think?
Thanks, Cheeseeater  wink

Re: Bookworm Studios: The new and unique Scratch Collaboration!

We've already got an ebooks gallery. It only has one thing in it though: a tutorial book on how to make scratch ebooks written by me.
Look at my galleries.
Anyone could add something to it!

Re: Bookworm Studios: The new and unique Scratch Collaboration!

Why would you like to join Bookworm Studios?: This is a unique collaboration and it's fun to write.
Which role(s) would you like to do (Write, Review, Edit, Illustrate)?: All except illustrator
*If you write, give an example of a good writing sentence:  A deafening crash filled the room, and my heart beat faster and faster as the noises came closer.
*If you edit, give me a sentence and say how to make it better: The dog was very excited.  I would change this to: The dog began to wag his tail with anticipation and panted happily.  Evidently, he was very excited.
*If you illustrate, give an example of your art: None
What is your favorite book?: This is classified intel.
Will you contribute to this collaboration, and stay active, and are you aware that you will be kicked out if you don't?: Yes, affirmitive, y ja.  lol

Re: Bookworm Studios: The new and unique Scratch Collaboration!

We need a new thread.
Cheeseater can be library manager, we can advertise
pussnboots writing club
write to the death
and room of books

Write to the death might interest you room of books guys.
We need to be more serious 'bout stuff.
Sorry guys. Unless of course you don't want that and we can stick in our lovely old mud.
We'd go back to this type of constant mindless book babbering, just with a more organised attitude.
Cool?
For a new thread, do we want a name change or new banners?
Answer those and act appropriately to our decisions and I'll start a thread.
Cool?
Why do I keep saying cool?
Cool. Decided. Cool. Whatever. You guys think about this. We need to move on sometime.  hmm

I'm thinking start fresh with a new thread; maybe Bookworm Studios: Reboot?

Also, I can help get a beginning storyline started.  But I'll wait until the new thread is up before I give out my ideas.  Link the new thread, then report to be closed when you are ready.

Re: Bookworm Studios: The new and unique Scratch Collaboration!

Hey, I can't type anything at the moment without snickering.
'pico' mascot has changed all our posts.
Everyone's posts have had (bloop!) and (pico rules!) added into them at random places.
(pico doesn't rule!)
yeah, we could team up I spose. To do what? (other than advertise each other)
Bookworm studios:reboot sounds cool.
Different banner?
Hey, I have some ideas. Someone else can do them cos I'm awful at (most) graphics.
How about the green bookworm from the first banner on a background of blue code?
Or you know the matrix code?

you could have matrix code falling in bookworm shapes around the words 'bookworm studios'.
Hey, humhum, you do cool stuff like that. I spose I could do it, but it wouldn't be the best. We need to make it look futuristic and cool, not rustic and nerdy. Not that other writing collabs give that impression, just we want ours to be different, new and interesting. Not that others aren't,just that the first and original scratch based writing studio should always be the newest and most innovitive.
Not that others aren't or can't be.

Re: Bookworm Studios: The new and unique Scratch Collaboration!

Sounds cool  smile  I dropped out of Write to Death as i got stuck, i'll post what i got up to though. I didn't plan properly so i didn't have any idea where the story was going and sci-fi doesn't particularly interest me . I'm more of a bloodthirsty dragon and magic sort of person XD

Rows and rows, racks upon racks of bottles. Tall and slim, short and wide, glass, wood, plastic, metallic twisting vials, rough leather water skins. If you described the contents as being summers, winters, joy, sadness, shades of blue and red and yellow and green, the scent of a rose, the taste of burnt toast; you wouldn’t be close. This is where the memories go. Every memory ever remembered. This is where, on a small shelf in a forgotten corner, a small bottle stood. Tiny ripples appeared on the surface of the contents. It was the first of many.

Jensi looked up from the paper he was marking, if the students thought doing tests were boring, it was nothing compared to the tedium of marking them.
"Question 1: Write in brief, the process of collecting memories.
All sentient species gathers memories from the moment of birth till death (although they cannot remember them all due to Kentu’s Law). At the moment of death a person’s memories are released into the atmosphere. A collector will capture these memories and take them back to the safety of the sanctum."

He lazily filled in the mark box, glancing at the clock and the stack of unmarked papers , he sighed. He would not be getting to be early tonight.

"Question 2: Explain why memories must be collected and stored.
Memories are a potent form of wild energy. If they are allowed to diffuse into the atmosphere they build up and cause problems. Build ups of unstable memories can cause ghosts, insanity, amnesia and other problems or “natural phenomenon’s”. This is dangerous. When captured and contained within properly treated bottles the memories cease to be dangerous. An interesting phenonem is that the bottles come to represent the person’s personality and soul."

Tick, tick, tick, tick, tick, tick, tick.

A small carriage clock ticked in the corner, one of the only pieces of memorabilia he retained from his home planet. It was golden-brown and the cream face held faded numbers. The tiny hands ticked. The tick was a fraction faster than the tock, and somehow that sound, to John, was home. Home… Earth.

The longing John felt for his planet was almost unbearable; when he was a young man he didn’t care. The excitement and wonder that came from his duties, the technology, the adventures, small and big, had faded. Just like his youth, his happiness had disappeared. John was old, older then a human had the right to be. He was 120 years old, but retained the appearance of a 50 year old. Time did not ruin the body so quickly here; but nothing could stop the weariness that had grown within him. Inside, John was 120; all he wanted was to see the town he grew up in one more time. To smell the honeysuckles that had draped the cottage he grew up in.

A sudden noise alerted Jensi to the young Jacobian boy stood at the doorway of the classroom. The gills on his neck were just visible behind a collar and his black inky eyes glinted nervously, set in a smooth face the colour of the sea. A clear mask covered his wide, toothy mouth, it was hooked up to some form of machine that was strapped to his waist and his words came bubbling out. He was wearing the grey uniform of a 2nd year acolyte and jumping nervously from toe to toe. He started gargling and making strange noises.

Jensi tapped the small switch that was attached to his ear like a Bluetooth. The translator was very helpful; you could understand nearly every language in the known universe. It was also quite uncomfortable though, emitting a faint buzzing noise in an absence of any noise to translate, and when alone Jensi tended to turn it off. As the little device turned on, part implant and part wearable gadget, the noises turned into words.

SO yah, i liked the general idea, just not the sci-fi part, i may revisit this idea in a different genre sometime.

Re: Bookworm Studios: The new and unique Scratch Collaboration!

Definitely! Give it an alchemy approach sometime. Apprentice alchemist. Don't do true fantasy. Have you read the edge chronicles? If you haven't, do, and If you have, add an alchemist apprentice into a world with creatures similar to ones in that one, just not as psychadelic.
If you've read it, you'll get what I mean.  I like what you've got and I think that kind of new approach would suit it brilliantly. For a sci fi version though, I would have similarised to the plots of Babylon crusade, or star trek.

Anyone doing new banners?

Re: Bookworm Studios: The new and unique Scratch Collaboration!

No i haven't read this series, I might give it a look once i've finished the books i'm currently reading. I'm rereading the Wee free men series and the Abhorsen series. (recommend both)
Does anybody else read tons in the holidays? I literally read 1 to 2 books a day depending on the size.
What's everyone else reading at the moment?

Also i wouldn't be able to make a banner like you described or any other one. The most i can manage are dragon eyes (Not the rest of the body)and oddly shaped cats. XD

EDIT

Yeah i agree we don't do much, mainly cause we sort of lost our leader and so didn't really have any organisation ect. I think it would be cool to do projects like the ebook and maybe collaborated stories.(Each write a new chapter and see where the story goes?)
For the new thread... I quite like Bookworm studio's: reboot.
New banners would be good, the current one is quite simple.

So yeah.  smile

Also it's great we have a couple of new members  big_smile  Hi Cheeseeater and all other new members(I'm not good at names D smile
