I was actually hoping that Oz movie would be okay
I mean, it's like rated PG, but in the trailer it just seemed to fill all the voids that Wizard of Oz left out
It just seemed like it would complete it

I don't think it's supposed to be connected to the 1939 film at all. I read some interview with the director or something saying that. I could kind of tell anyway. In the Wizard of Oz the balloon was from the Omaha State Fair, not that circus thing. I know this because I have a Wizard of Oz playset with a tiny balloon that says "OMAHA STATE FAIR" or something like that

Oz was decent.
It's a prequel to the original story, though it claims to be based on "The Works Of Frank Baum", and there were like 17 books in the series so who knows which they used.
Well, did a quick Google search. It's an original story told with the characters (queens and the Wizard of Oz) set 20 years before either the source movie or books were set.

i watched oz the great and powerful today
my favourite parts were the nods to the original film/books (not that there were many of them to the expanded works)
my least favourite parts were when it contradicted the already established canon
like jeez glinda said she never met oz in the /first book/ and i know it must be hard to live without oz and glinda in the same scene (jk) but it'd be a lot more original than "hey we only really know two wizard of oz characters so uh.... y'know"
or was that the witch of the north???? jk theyre the same character in all the adaptions >:0
also glinda ruled the quadlings!!!!!!!!!!!! not the munchkins!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
and they relied on cheap horror a lot of the time!! that was terrible

I love the whole movie trilogy. They stick so close to the books, and have great actors. I got to see the Hobbit Part 1 in theaters and got it on DVD an Bluray on Easter.

Thunderball.
Enjoyed it a lot more than I remembered, but I still prefer the unofficial remake, Never Say Never Again.
