Re: SDS ruining good projects and promoting bad ones

I like how we're finally discussing that there are bad projects, projects that make you wish for a dislike button, projects who just clog up Scratch. I have never in all my time seen a good project on new. (I would say my own but there are people who do better). When someone makes a project that is literally nothing other than "LOL PI DAY" and get 10 trillion "love its" there is another project that someone else truly worked on and doesn't ever get front paged because it doesn't fit into the SDS theme.

Simplicity.

Re: SDS ruining good projects and promoting bad ones

The purpose of the SDS is to promote creativity in projects, not necessarily 'good' projects. If the second person in your scenario wants to get some more views, he/she should ask the current curator to curate the project.  smile

So long, 1.4.

Re: SDS ruining good projects and promoting bad ones

Well, some SDS projects were pretty good. Maybe there should be a rule that SDS curators only added projects that were "worthy" of being on the front page. I was a SDS curator (on my other account, normal_girl) once, but luckily, all the projects I added were decent.

I totally disagree. Not everyone has the same opinion about projects.

Scratch is really designed to be easy for beginners to use - so you are going to see a wide variety of different projects.  Many of these projects are experiments and learning experiences - so they may not be appealing to many others.  That doesn't mean they shouldn't appear on Scratch or even on the Scratch front page.  Showing projects like that can be inspiring to other beginners.  There is room for other, more "popular" projects to appear in the view and loveit driven categories.
