1- Go to your profile.
2- Click on change picture.
3- Select "Choose file".
4- Find the picture that you want (it can't be too big) and press OK.
5- Click on Update.

Please don't make duplicate topics. Instead, just add a new post to your old topic.
Back on topic...it may be that you are not picking a file with the right file type (should be a .GIF or .PNG I believe) or maybe it's too big - they have to be pretty small.
