Where's the logic in that, Spock?!

Recently, I posted a comment on a scratch project that was about a cat (as usual).
I said it was a nice project, but that it was about a cat, and there are too many cat projects already, so NO SOUP FOR YOU.

I got one of those admin reprimands about not hurting people's feelings.

You were telling somebody that their project was bad because it had a cat. That would hurt my feelings if you said it to me.

I think jvvg has identified the main issue with your remark - it is dismissing all the effort put into it simply based on the subject matter.  Criticism is welcome, as long as it is constructive and it is presented tactfully.  Perhaps you could have stated it more tactfully with something like:  "Wow - nice project!  However, there are a *lot* of cat projects on Scratch - your work might stand out more if you picked a different subject.  Just a suggestion - I'm looking forward to your next work.".  You will find that you catch more flies with honey than with vinegar  smile
