Re: Still new scratcher

Well, to be a scratcher, you need at least one forum visit (done), 3 projects (done), 10 comments (not sure), and have been registered for 1 month (a bit long  tongue ). So far you just need 1 month and maybe 10 comments.

Tip of the whatever: Don't post in threads older than 2 weeks unless your post will actually be useful.
It's the last day of 1.4! *cries* (quote from NeilWest, rest by me) by the time you read this it probably will be 2.0  sad

Re: Still new scratcher

Actually, it's 11 comments. Also, after you've been registered for 30 days, click "mark all topics as read" on the forum home page (the explanation for why is kind of long, but it does help).

Click mark all topics as read and wait 24 hours. You should get promoted by then.

Why does the marking all topics as read help?

Here goes...  smile

The one month thing is checked by the server every day, at midnight. At the top left of the forum, you see something like "Last visit: Today 17:33:23". If this time is more than one month from the "Registered: 2013-03-15", the server promotes you. But the last visit is only updated when you click mark all topics as read (or maybe if you've been inactive for 10 minutes, but I don't think so). So even if you've been registered for a month, but haven't visited at a time after that month, you wouldn't get promoted. Marking as read only helps I think - Its not necessary to do so.

Correct me if I'm wrong  tongue

Let me clear it up a bit:
The last visit data needs to be within 2 days of running the script, and clicking "mark all topics as read" sets it to the time you click it.

However, I really don't think we should be giving excessive information about how to get promoted. Some trolls may abuse it to get promoted as quickly as possible; I think it's better to keep the information at least a bit more obscure.

Re: Still new scratcher

This question is addressed in the stickied topic About that "New Scratcher" Status... so I'll close this topic to keep the conversation from getting further split up.
