Re: What Music Are You Listening To?

^ Nice. I'm listening to Ride's first album, "Nowhere", because I found out it was an essential shoegazing record, and I also felt bad that the only songs I knew from them were off Carnival of Light. "Kaleidoscope" is the best track so far, IMO.

Re: What Music Are You Listening To?

Eh, I don't know. I thought the album was much more psychedelic than "Sgt. Pepper". I really like stuff like "Blue Jay Way" and "I Am the Walrus".

Those songs are two of my least favourites on it; I prefer "Magical Mystery Tour", "Penny Lane", and "Baby You're a Rich Man". I don't really like Sgt. Pepper's much either.

Oh yeah, I forgot how much I like "Baby You're a Rich Man".

But still, I definitely agree that their best albums were "Rubber Soul" and "Revolver".

My favs are probably Revolver and Introducing the Beatles/Meet the Beatles (I'm unfamiliar with the early UK albums but I understand this is fairly equivalent to Please Please Me)

Right. I'd actually go as far to say that the early US albums are even more historically important than the UK ones, since most American families obviously owned the US ones during the beginning of the British Invasion - it was basically what introduced Americans to the British rock groups of the time.

The American ones are what I have, too; I've got Introducing the Beatles..., Meet the Beatles, and The Beatles' Second Album all on vinyl.

Nice. Most of mine are newer CD remasters [some from 2009, others from 1987], but it doesn't really match that feeling of a good vinyl record, especially with the Beatles.

The Beatles. I don't want to sound too stereotypical - but I can't really get into early music.

All early music? What about 70's krautrock? Y'know, Kraftwerk, Can, Neu!, Brian Eno's solo work, David Bowie's Berlin Era (1977-1979).

Or do you mean even before the 70's?
