The sound category I think could use some new blocks, so I thought of these:
record Play stop recording record for () seconds If <recording?> End play ()% of recording

In your logic, because the webcam and recording blocks could both be abused in some unusual, unspoken fashion, and because the scratch team approves of webcam blocks, they shouldn't disapprove of recording blocks.
But it can't really be abused without any data being sent to servers, so if its entirely stored offline, there shouldn't be anything wrong with it...

Record someone's voice w/o them knowing.
Play it back to yourself.
Stalk.
???
Profit.

But I'm pretty sure the sound would be saved in the project, not in an online database. So no one would be able to access it except for the project that recorded it.

Um... No.
But if someone did do that, it should at least ask for permission like it does with webcam blocks.

record would work, nothing is being shared, it is just playing in scratch. It probably (please) will be deleted after the scratch project is terminated. haha please no cloud recordings XD

Actually, it won't. You want the steps?
1. Set volume/pitch to a number
2. Set them to a cloud list
3. Play them back.
4. Put them in stalker notebook.
5. ??
6. Profit.

No, cloud variables/lists were already not allowed, look above my last post.

No,no. I mean recording cannot be "clouded", if that makes sense.

It theoretically could, with the right techniques. But I think I misunderstood you earlier, sorry.

with that, I'm wondering whether the same can be done to webcam. or do sprites not sense webcam colors?

Well, someone made a camera out of black-and-white, so they sense darkness...

We don't have pitch access anymore, though.
