Here's some Python stuff, yo.

Plus writing your own wouldn't take that long considering you'd really just have to count the file headers.

My point is that they are very pressed for time right now and should spend it on more important stuff.

Then you could have said just that. Plus, nXIII is working on the forums and would probably be able to apply such a small thing quickly if approved, since he's been working pretty quickly through a lot of the forum issues.

I for one, have a really slow internet. It takes a while for pages to load, and animated GIFs in people's signatures just make it worse. It's really annoying. So, I propose a ban on animated GIFs in posts and signatures.

Just because people have animated signatures does not mean that it is a bad thing!

Ugh. I want to see regular images in sigs, but not GIFs.

Also, maybe you all would like to read the entire topic before posting... That way we don't have the same idea suggested many, many times.

Couldn't you make an extension yourself that fixes the problem?

Wouldn't an extension still load the gif but just hide it?

It's possible to not load it at all, I believe.  I'm pretty sure there are extensions that do this [I even think adblock does, however I'm not sure].
