The chronicles of metagross sound either really grand, or that metagross' son is telling metagross' great grandchildren about their family tree.
I'm not saying USE MY IDEA OR ELSE, I'm just stating an opinion.

Heheh, sorry about the late reply. I kinda forgot.

Anyways, I think the name should be Pokemon Metablast. It sounds lame, but we could always change the name later. The Chronicles of Metagross DOES sound like a book (Chronicles of Narnia).

And we need an active programmer, or this collab is dead.

Metablast is a bit cheesy. Metagrosses are definitely one of the harder pokemon species to name. It has to sound like something it's parents would call it, not a trainer nickname.

We need to start writing the pseudocode. Are you able to be active in this collab? Because you are the main programmer.

Yeah, it is. I googled it and found this. Serenade is probably the best one, but it doesn't describe metagross... maybe we could scrap the Metagross idea, and do Dragonite instead...

Sure, I can check in daily :3

Scrapping Metagross is probably our best bet. Making a game around another person's game doesn't really sound good to me, in it's entirety, though. Like, the whole Pokemon thing. Anyway, that's just my opinion.

Yeah, that is true...

But I have no ideas. 10 pages and we still haven't gotten anything done  sad . Well, how about we have a similar theme, but just make everything ourselves? Like a game where you are an animal of some sort?

Inventing characters! Yeah! Love that idea! Sabre-toothed bannana?
I like sabre toothed bannanas.
I could make an origami man with a sword to be the main character? I could make the sprite designs out of a photo I took of an origami model, which I could animate. That'd be cool.

Good! We agree on something. Will the bananas be the protagonist or the antagonist? Both?

Did I forget to mention that Pyglet can be packaged with your games, so that the user won't have to install anything, unlike Pygame?  tongue  It's also faster. :3

Re: The Evil Banana: a side scroller made in Python/Pygame

And it's compatible with Python 3, which really isn't very different to us as we're supposed to be making a simple game, but I just kinda hate how people are stuck in the past using Python 2.  tongue

Sorry I haven't done anything at all - I've been concentrated in recording music for my band, and school, which just started for me.

I guess we're still sticking to XML maps divided in groups, as we discussed earlier?

EDIT: I'm writing a veeery rough implementation of the maps; without rendering. I want to get XML importing and loading the map into memory done at least, then I'll upload/commit to the repository if we're still using that.

Cool! Wait, isn't OpenGL some 3D thing? My bro is a pro at 3D modeling. Yeah, it would be cool to do Pyglet, but I'm not sure if I wanna take the time to learn it. I still can barely do anything with Pygame, and OOP is very confusing. I decided to make this collab because I knew there were a lot of Pythoners on Scratch.

OpenGL is a rendering engine used for high-performance games, it can run in 2d and 3d. It doesn't have much to do with modeling, only that 3d modeling programs sometimes use OpenGL.

Pyglet is a little more advanced, since it has no program loop, so yeah, you basically define a function that is used over and over and over again, and a function for each event.

Could we make this in Pygame, then maybe make something in Pyglet later? And the reason I said modeling is because we could use his models in a game. But does Pyglet support 3D?

P.S. We should actually work on this.

So, are we using the Git (in Google Project Hosting) repository or not? Still figuring out how to import XML with Python's DOM library (built-in, luckily).
