Sound effects are crucial to games, a lot of weapons, or actions wouldn't nearly be as cool or exciting without the sound effects they make.
But what video game has the best?
My vote goes for The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker, from Link's hilarious grunts, to the enemy noises, the sound effects are top notch, my favorite being the sound effects that play when saving. I could save over and over again just to hear them.

Mine has to go to the Sonic and Dragon Ball Z Sound Effects. They are pure epic!

A lot of GTA San Andreas sounds are very nice, although I don't know if it's just because I've played it for a long time or they're actually good.
Then there's the dinging noise you can put on in TF2 whenever you hit an enemy, I really like constant dings when I set up a turret just because I know it's effective.
Placing objects in Rollercoaster Tycoon 2.
Bullets flying past after missing you in a lot of FPS games.
The sound of a fresh magazine in Space Marine.

+1 to GTA:SA and TF2
I also love the OST and the SFX of Tyrian. Funny how I bring that one game up in every thread about videogames, classic or not, here.

The sound effects in The Legend of Zelda, especially the sound for opening a treasure chest.

I'll never forget the one time I heard Link actually say a word: in the tower of the gods, he yells C'mon! to command a statue to follow him.

Homestuck Adventure Game.

LoZ of course.
Another would be SSBB, the sound affects when you choose a character are awesome.
Fun Fact: The only person who speaks a full sentence in that game is Snake.

I must agree, my favorite is selecting Ness.

Really? Almost any other website is full of people always talking about Phoenix Wright.

This, probably.
Do you realize how freaking iconic almost EVERY sound in the original game is?
Anyone who's touched a Mario game knows the opening theme, the fireball, the powerup.
If you can't hum the, you can at least identify them.
EDIT: less . . . ambiguous

BOOM!
I guess so.
But the sound of walking on grass appeals to me for some reason.
I like the walking/destroying snow sound. I've only seen snow a few times in my life (that's what comes from living in the subtropics!), but the game sound sounds exactly the same as real life

mari0. With a 0. There's something oddly satisfying about hearing mario sound effects and Portal ones in the same game.
Oh and call me crazy but I like the sfx in like 2/3 of the towlr games
Ooh just remembered: the sfx (and music) from the original 3 Spyro the Dragon games are like the best ever. Heck, everything about those games were awesome.
