Are you using Chrome? Ads sometimes appear if you have extensions on that (I think).

Oh... Um... Ok... Do I want to ask why... ?
Because those ads might have viruses on it.

Ads are dangerous.
Also, you probably have an Adware.

Not all ads are dangerous. So, should I run a virus scan just to be safe?

You can only know if an ad is safe by clicking on it... Which is a dangerous action.
And yes. Do a virus scan.
Then do another one.
Uninstall your antivirus, download another one, and do another scan.
Then uninstall it, reinstall your old antivirus, and scan it once again.
(Disregard the three last tips.)

Once I saw ads on scratch, I disabled different extensions, and found what was causing the ads.
Yup, just disabled all of the extensions it could be. So far so good!

Disbale them one at a time to check which one it is.
If you've installed the extension, you might want to use it. So figure out which ones it isn't so you can use them again.

Like everyone else said, you probably have a virus.
On that note, I will now run away screaming because I DO NOT have a good history with viruses.
But they were trojan horses and blackmal, you just have an adware.

I think I'll be fine. Ran some virus scanners. Nothing too big was found, but my antivirus took care of any viruses I may have had. I also disabled some chrome extensions and I think that did the trick. Thank you guys all for your help!
