Hey, if you like Flux Pavillion or Skrillex then I suggest The M Machine or ZEDD.

Back on topic, veggie, you need to listen to all of this. NOW.

It fades into this awesome drum solo and I think your music taste would like it.

I am listening to music by an artist called Lunar Vegetarian, who I think should be much more popular! If anyone wants to hear his music, they can at https://soundcloud.com/lunarvegetarian.

Re: What Music Are You Listening To?

Do any of you guys have artists or bands that you feel like you're supposed to like, but you just can't get into? I'm not necessarily saying you despite it, but you just couldn't get into the whole thing.

For me, I've never been able to get into Muse. It's strange, I was sure I would love them, their music being a mix of three of my favorite genres - alternative, prog, and metal. But...something about them just doesn't feel right. I can't put my finger on it. Maybe it's Matthew Bellamy's voice -- a bit too melodramatic and over the top. I just don't think they take the best elements of the three genres into account. They certainly feel far removed from a traditional rock unit, but they also take away a sense of wry, rhetorical wittiness that's one of the most charming features of both alt and prog. As for their more metal side, it is rather dissonant, and that's fine, since that can be a key element to great music, but you also have to balance it out with a fair melody. Muse tries that, but I often find that the dissonance and murkiness can also carry into the parts that try to be a bit softer and toned down, making it feel a bit like a burden at times.

Look guys, I respect Muse, I don't think they're a bad band at all, they just don't really gel totether well in my mind.

What about you guys, do you have any artists that make you feel similarly?

I totally get what you're saying! I mean, I don't feel the way you do about Muse, 'cause I love Muse a lot. But I feel that way about other bands and singers.

I always tried to get into Pendulum's early work and Moby, but they feel too far from my music taste. It also took me a while to realise how bad Daft Punk's album, 'Discovery' was.

Y'know, looking back at that comment, I feel like my critique on Muse was way harsher than I intended. I do like Muse, in fact I really like their song "Unnatural Selection". I think the problem is me, in fact. What I really need to do is get myself a fresh set of headphones, blast an album by them (which would be best to start with, "Black Holes", "Symmetry", or a different one?), and then see what I think.

I do feel like they have the elements of becoming one of my favorites, I just have to listen a bit harder.

i find it interesting that youd say that
i feel music should be only for you and i guess i live that too?? cos ive never felt like you seem to feel about muse
((tho sometimes grooveshark recommends something to me and i feel like 'not that again' cos even though it's the genre i like or whatever i cant get into it. i dont have that feeling of being obliged to like it tho, so i guess it's not the same thing))

I can't enjoy Muse's more recent work, but Origin of Symmetry is definitely great. It's like a gritty Radiohead album.
