Cool    I really want to go to a convention but none of my friends are into anime. Well, one of my bff's likes one anime character and another one of my bff's likes chobits, but that's it    my older bros friends little sister goes to conventions, but I never got to go with her    I was too young or something before? Idk, but she's like 16-1/2 so there's a bit of an age difference. We get along and text sometimes but we're not exactly friends so I'm stuck with the internet 

The convention I went to didn't just had anime. They had comic books, cartoons, old movies, stuff like that. It was just a general pop culture convention with a few anime/manga booths.

Though I do want to go to Naka-Kon badly.

Don't know what Naka-Kon is but okay    and I signed up but it's been about ten minutes and they haven't sent me my confirmation email. Does it usually take a while?

Baccano, Higurashi, Umineko, Deadman Wonderland, Eden of the East, Excel Saga, Future Diary, Akira...the list goes on.

I've also read about a lot of cool anime in OtakuUSA (best magazine ever) and I just sit there Googling them going "Please don't be TV-MA, please don't be TV-MA..."

lol, I've seen a bit of higurashi. It's ummmmm...how should I put it? There's no words to express how sick and twisted it is 0.o I can't even watch the whole thing, it's just too psychotic. Trust me, you don't want to see it! I'm never ever gonna forget it! Just look up some pics from the show under images or look up clips on youtube if you're that interested to see what I mean. But remember: you have been warned    .....but on a more serious note, it is truly one of the darkest shows ever

Yeah, it's a murder mystery, right? I Wikipedia'd it.

The weird thing is, Wikipedia says it's shonen and seinen, so I'm not sure what to believe.

Right. And shonen? HA! Heck no! I mean, I think they're calling it shonen 'cause it's not ecchi, but they also call it seinen 'cause it's MA. But either way I think that's a little sexist; girls can like that type of show too.

I think it's because it switched from a shonen magazine to a seinen magazine (at least that's the impression I'm getting from Wikipedia), like Evangelion and Trigun both did.

Hmm. Maybe it switched because it got more violent over time? I've watched Trigun and when it gets past the beginning of the anime and goes on to the part that was in a seinen magazine, it gets pretty dark and more violent.

I also heard the anime is darker than the manga. If you ask me, the anime should be rated R. If it was a movie that played in theaters I guarentee you it'd be rated x (or NC-17 as they call it now)

I don't think I've actually ever even heard of any movie being rated NC-17. It must be only really obscure movies get that rating...

Yep. It's really rare for movies to get that title now adays. America doesn't like to allow NC-17 movies anyway. I don't mean for that to sound racist or anything ('cause well I'm half american and I live in the USA  ) Japan allows it a heck of a lot more.

I know, that's why so many kids anime in Japan are heavily edited when they air on American TV. It's insane, really.

Ikr? Lol have you seen the banned episode of pokemon? I don't mean the first episode that gave kids seizures 'cause that should be banned wherever you are. I mean the one where they go to the beach and well....Just answer the question first 

I saw a clip of the beach one. I can see why that wouldn't be acceptable for G-rated Pokemon, though. Maybe if Pokemon were TV-PG or so...

And I've seen the seizure episode, they had it up on Wikipedia for a short time. It actually made me jump and turn away from the screen, and I immediately removed it from the Internet history so my epileptic grandmother wouldn't accidentally click on it (I was using her Internet).

good call    I didn't get to see what the seizure thing actually looked like 'cause only one person on youtube had it and the youtuber slowed it down for epileptic viewers. Even with it slowed down by a ton was already a lot for my eyes. How could the animaters even think that was safe?

Pokemon animators: Responsible for the warning "Remember to watch anime in a well-lit room and don't sit too close to the TV." which was on pretty much every anime for the next five years.

I heard Pokemon was even pulled off the air for a while in Japan, which is pretty bad.
