Because they're nowhere near the quality standard for "best book ever".
Plus if you really think that The Hunger Games is the best "dystopian" novel ever, you obviously have not read 1984, Fahrenheit 451, Brave New World, Anthem, We, The Giver. You're right, I haven't read those books, but I'm going to. I was trying to get into reading at the time (and I still am) so I was/am just going with what's popular to begin with and then branch out. Also my friends are reading the most popular books so unless I don't want to know what they're talking about- I gotta read their books.
1984, Fahrenheit 451, Brave New World, We, and The Giver are certainly popular books. :P
And who cares if you know what your friends are talking about. Out of all super popular fiction in the last two years or whatever, I've read like, the first book of The Hunger Games.
Anway, the Divergent one is about like people splitting into groups for whatever reason, right? I don't know, it just doesn't sound like something I would enjoy, and it's been called "similar to The Hunger Games" so I have even less a chance of liking it!
Actually of the books I listed the only I haven't read is We, I'm planning to soon however.
Anthem I actually didn't really like but it's decent dystopian if you ask me and does hold a pretty symbolic theme of inviduality.

Now that I think about it, number 4 probably is the strongest of the series.
Number 7 is pretty cool but I think the fact that it was the end made me overlook some flaws when I thought it was the best.
Number 6 was awesome but not the greatest. An average entry but just like, not particularly excellent!
Number 5 is not even a contender here, though it is still good.
Number 3 had a cool plot and the best movie, but it's just not as exciting.
Number 2 literally took away Harry's wand every chance it could get so it wasn't as cool because no magic!
And Number 1 had the task of setting up everything and there was no room for a more overarching plot (aside from the callbacks to it later)
But like Number 4 man! All the trials were cool. They got the whole Voldy coming back thing with the Moody side-plot. The first character dies "onscreen". So yeah I see how that is the best HP now that I consider it.

I recommend The Hobbit or The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R Tolken. It takes a while to get used to the writing style, but they're both great.
Also, the Heroes of Olympus series by Rick Riordan. I personally didn't like Percy Jackson at all, but these are much better.

I always considered 4 to be the best book and 1 to be the best film. Many disagree though, my sister, who is an even huger HP fan than I am, says the third is.
Since I first read it, which was not much longer than approximately six years ago (I think) I've always thought it was the best one in terms of scope, drama, characters, and plots. It's long and took me something over a month and a half to read (I'm a slow reader okay!) I found it to be the overall strongest.

It's because it follows decently to the book without overstepping the line between faithful and so precisely dedicated and lengthy it's boring, while being able to keep the strong plot intact.

Three is my least favourite book, movie, and everything (except video game!)
I just really don't like the way they handle time travel.

Yeah, I agree. The last arc wasn't all that great, and to tell the truth, the last two arcs weren't entirely nessasary. I wish they had done something else for the "There will be three..kin of your kin" prophecy. Maybe something that would've made more sense...

I didn't see to many classics so I'll throw some in. The Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, and the Narnia series. Also if you like books like the Hunger Games, read the Maze Runner series. If you like Fantasy, try the Ranger's Apprentice series. If you Historical Fiction, try Jonny Tremain, and the Seeds of America series. These are a few of my favorite books that I have read. Hope you enjoy them.

I love The Hobbit, but I haven't finished it yet.
My other fave is The Girl With The Silver Eyes. Classic. I finished it already, and read the whole thing while eating skittles until the bag was empty the day I got it! Which was last christmas.

The Harry Potter series is great, and so are Rick Riordan's books, but just for the sake of mentioning underrated books:
Silverfin from the Young Bond series. The Young Bond series may come off as a stupid and cheesy licensed series, but the writing, characters, emotions, and character development are very real. I highly recommend it.

I find most books boring (except for some non-fiction books), but The Hitch Hikers Guide To The Galaxy is the best book I have read.
