A SWF is a Flash file. This SWF in particular is the Flash file of the player, which is available here. You need to download it to see the player. Unfortunately, it doesn't auto-update or auto-save like when on the site, but it's something.

Re: Does anyone else feel like Scratch is slipping away from them?

if you like programing in 1.4, you could just make a program in 1.4, open it in 2.0, and upload it without havung to change it

I'm not criticising you, just saying that this is preference, so essentially your arguing my point and then saying the same thing.

All of your reasons don't apply to me, but the lone about slow Internet would affect me if I had the same Internet speed as him.

And I don't think you guys should continue saying "Scratch 1.4 stay!" because the Scratch Team put a lot of effort into it FOR us so we can enjoy scratch more. You should appreciate the new version of Scratch.

Again, for the "stubborn" thing, that's your own fault. Your connotation of stubborn may be negative, but stubborn just means unwilling to change. Essentially, you are unwilling to change, so.
It's just like when people call me a nerd or stuff. Most people think its bad, but it just means you're hard working and studious. I think that's good.
Perhaps being stubborn is good. It shows you truly believe in something. It doesn't always refer to pouty little kids.

"Fault" would not be the right word to use. It's an opinion, a preference, not a crime. That's like attacking somebody for liking a different color than you do. Their own problem, maybe, but not fault.

Okay, how about "cause"?
And "fault" doesn't really have to be bad, it's just the cause/reason.

Dictionary.com says otherwise.

fault  [fawlt]
noun
1.
a defect or imperfection; flaw; failing: a fault in the brakes; a fault in one's character.
2.
responsibility for failure or a wrongful act: It is my fault that we have not finished.
3.
an error or mistake: a fault in addition.
4.
a misdeed or transgression: to confess one's faults.

You need to stop getting off topic. I've already said I meant to use "cause" or "reason" so stop arguing about this and start actually discuss the topic or leave.

I'm already used to the 2.0 site. You'll get used to it in time.

i have the slowest of internet (slower than you could believe (i cant even watch a youtube vid in 240p without it rebuffering every 10 seconds (not an exaderation))) and 2.0 site is insanley slow on it. it actually once took 3 MINUTES to load a project page, and THEN the project itself. i really hope they keep the style of 1.4 site.

PS: upgrading to faster internet is not a solution for  me. apparently, att thinks i live in a "rural" area which means they dont offer hi speed internet where i live.

It'll probably be faster when the ST transfers to 2.0, because right now, both sites (for me) are slow since they have to divide up their servers between the two sites. When the 2.0 site gets all of the servers, then it'll be much faster. And, everyone's all like OMG 2.0!!!!! and everyone wants to check it out, so the poor servers have a LOT to handle. Maybe switching to the Mobile version of the site (even though it's ugly imo) will help. But the ST isn't going to keep this site just so that the small amount of people with slow internet don't have to be patient and wait for the projects to load. And you should be greatful that you even have internet. A lot of people don't.

And @ the rest of the people who are like "WE WANT 1.4!!!":
The ST is going to switch to 2.0 no matter what. There's gonna be an archive of the 1.4 site, but the ST's worked SUPER hard on 2.0 to please the people who ACTUALLY want 2.0 to come. If you don't want 2.0, I would suggest that you just quit.

I haven't tried the mobile site, but if they keep it all plain and perhaps CSS-less or whatnot I'm pretty sure people with slow connections can use that.

I began with something perfectly on topic, thank you very much, and no, that's not what you said. You said that "fault" meant "cause or reason" and was not a negative term, which I disproved (by the way, it's easy to tell that you still mean something negative, even though you changed the way you put it slightly. You mean that they're wrong, that much is clear.). And "stop" suggests you believe I was off-topic in my original post, which is not, in fact, true. I pointed out that it was evident in your tone and diction, and it still is, that you feel that people are somehow wrong for thinking that way. People are just discussing opinions, not asking for change. If the original post I quoted was not off-topic, then neither was mine. Your problem is in assuming that there are only two sides, and nothing else, in between or otherwise, so if I'm going against you once, then I am therefore your opponent, or even enemy, and thus I am required to say something about how I allegedly prefer 1.4 over 2.0, because I am supposedly "on the other side", and anything else is off-topic. That pattern of logic is wrong, given that your postulated premise is incorrect. I was saying that the people who do are not wrong for simply having or expressing their opinions, as you apparently believed given your choice of words in the post I quoted before. That is not off-topic. This was meant to be not a debate, but a sharing of beliefs. You turned it into an argument before I came here and looked at this, that much cannot be denied.

No, Scratch is not slipping away.  Change is not bad.  Do not fear change.  Change will always come.

And you are too, given that you're just spouting broad things that show a limited knowledge and understanding of what's going on. And I'm not only talking about my own discussion with kayybee (just especially), I'm talking about the entire thread. If you can't be bothered to make a non-worthless post, why don't you get off this thread? Not me, not the "stubborn" people, you, the one who doesn't know or care enough to comprehend the ongoing discussions. I believe told you before to read something I wrote. That was a mistake. Knowing and understanding are on completely different levels. You appear to me to be a walking example of this. I now ask you to at least attempt to see the point. Until you do, you cannot truly be on topic.

Re: Does anyone else feel like Scratch is slipping away from them?

Closed for disrespectful remarks.

Also, this topic doesn't really fit what this forum section is intended for - answering questions about the site and the language.  If you have some feedback for the new site - the Beta 2.0 forums are the place to put it.

Change is difficult - more for some people than others.  However, it is unavoidable and something you will run into all your life.  The trick, I find, is to approach it with a positive attitude and if you find something missing - figure out a way to replace it.
